Item Description...
In this provocative book, Dr. Lutzer gives good reason why there will be tears in heaven. When we reflect on how we lived for Christ, we might weep on the side of the celestial gates. This book challenges widespread misconceptions about the judgment seat of Christ that have rarely emptied it of its meaning. Although Christians have been justified by faith, Christ will still judge them for the "deeds (done) in the body,....whether good or bad" (2Corinthians 5:10). How well or poorly we do here might indeed determine our status in heaven for all eternity. Be prepared to have your understanding of the judgment seat of Christ challenged, provoked and perhaps permanently changed. No one who reads this book will ever see the experiences of life in quite the same way again

Publishers Description
Face to Face with Christ. No hiding. No opportunity to put a better spin on what you did. No attorney to represent you. The look in His eyes says it all. Like it or not, standing before Christ is precisely where you and I shall some day be, 'for we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:10). And while we will not lose our entrance to heaven if we are believers, what we do in our earthly life will determine our standing in the eternal kingdom. There are eternal consequences to what we do.
Jesus will not wink at our disobedience. He does not play favorites. We will be rewarded according to our faithfulness. There is no exception, no special deferment. When God calls our name we will be there. We cannot hide, for God will find us; we cannot scheme to make ourselves look good, for God shall see us. We cannot excuse ourselves, for God knows us.
In "Your Eternal Reward," pastor Erwin Lutzer teaches readers not only the effects of the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne, but shares what Jesus will be looking for and how we can use the resources of this life to store up treasures in heaven. This life is training for the next. We are to be learning the rules of the kingdom and running the race to win the prize Christ has promised to His faithful servants. When He calls your name, will you hear Him say, 'Well done, good and faithful servant'?

Good highlight for the least known doctrine  Jan 5, 2006
The doctrine of rewards is probably the least known among the Christian community; I myself came to know it only recently. Most people imagine heaven being a bunch of souls with a silly looking happy face in a shiny white robe singing a soprano all day long for eternity. Well, that sounds more like hell than heaven! Fortunately, the Bible teaches a whole other concept.

With this book, Pastor Lutzer tries to shed some light on this concept and explains what a faithful believer will encounter once he encounters God. You will learn that in heaven, you will be more alive than ever before. Even though we are saved for our faith (justification by faith), Christ will still judge us for every deed done in the body whether good or bad (2 Cor 5:10). Our life here on earth will decide our status in heave. Yes, status! Every believer will not have the same position in heaven: some will be rewarded more than others and some will have greater responsibilities than others. Christians don’t like to talk about this rewards concept so as to not sound materialistic, but that doesn’t change the fact that we are promised unimaginable rewards because of the love and generosity of our Father in heaven.

The author uses his exegetical skills to show us how these facts are clearly taught in the Bible, and most importantly, how to use such notions in our own lives: what we can gain, what we can lose, what Christ will be looking for, how to properly live and what to expect in the life to come.

The book is clearly written and is a great explanation of the doctrine of rewards without getting too complicated, although some ideas get repeated throughout the pages. Recommended reading!
Treasures in Heaven  Jun 26, 2003
Erwin Lutzer writes about the judgement of Christians in Heaven. He states eventhough our salvation is sealed by the blood of Jesus, our reward is is based on our works on earth. Erwin Luttzer makes aprofound statement in that what we recieve from God is solely out of the generosity of his goodness. We recieve because God gives it to us not because we deserve it. Our reward or participation in Heaven is based on our works and deeds on earth. We enter Heaven under general admission through faith in the death and resurection of Jesus. Weither or not we sit behind the dugout or on the fifty yard line is up to us. Erwin Lutzer states that Jesus is looking for servants that serve him and one another willingly. Every good deed done in the name of Jesus is tallied in Heaven. He also states that not all deads have pure motives, but if we generally have hearts for Jesus we will be rewarded. He also states that everything belongs to God, even money. How we treat what God has given us will also effect our Judgement and rewards in heaven. In general, how we live on earth as believers will effect our position in Heaven.
Christian and others, read carefully!!!  Aug 29, 2002
Erwin Lutzer has written a powerful commentary on what awaits us at the Judgment seat of Christ, as well as what waits for those who reject Christ as Lord and Savior. He shows the various rewards (yes, rewards) which await us, as well as describing the various crowns, and with Scripture throughout, he presents a compelling vision of what we are to do - live everyday for Christ, and every motive to do for Christ all that we do. The only chapter which I found a little out of sync was the one entitled "Run to Win." For some strange reasons, modern day Christians want to applaud all athletes instead of look with discernment at the industry. Paul, back in his day, dealt with the "true" athlete, the one who participated for a crown. In today's world, it's all about million dollar and billion dollar deals, and in many instances, athletes are recruited without integrity and with a great deal of greed. That is not to say that the entire industry is at fault, but there should be a clarion call from the Church of Christ to call into question this whole business of the sports-industrial-complex, and how it has transformed all of our society. More than religion being the opiate of the people, I am inclined to believe that sports is the ultimate opiate of the people. All in all, though, Mr. Lutzer displays an incredible passion in this book, and it is highly recommended!!!
Forget the Full Gospel, this is the WHOLE Gospel Truth  Jun 19, 1998
Finally a book that emphasizes what the Bible emphasizes (both OT & NT). Most Christians are capitalists now and expect to be communists in the future. NOT!!!! The order, according to God, is reversed. Lutzer courageously lays it on the line in a layman friendly manner (More accessible than Reign of the Servant Kings by Dillow.) Once your eyes are opened to rewards you'll be kicking yourself for not having seen it all over the pages of Scripture. This book will spark a revolution among Christians, and get them living like God intended. (Or at least it will ignite the noxious fumes of unpracticed Christianity in their outbursts against it). Read it and revive.
Fantastic! Clear, easy-to understand, and interesting.  Jun 9, 1998
This book strips away many myths and false beliefs about what happens after you die. It uses the Bible as its basis, but who would better know what the afterlife would be like than God? I highly recommend it.
