Item Description...
History has been all too glad to acknowledge the courage and bravery of the men who put their lives on the line when they signed the Declaration of Independence. Yet, it is often forgotten that those very same men had wives and families. Brief, due to lack of historical data, but poignant, especially when we have snippets of their letters and diaries, these accounts of the brave founding women of America are filled with a brand of courage all their own. Even among those who died due to exposure, being turned out of their homes, or even in jail for supporting the Revolution, one doesn't find a single word of complaint, but rather an unswerving devotion to their husbands, and their husbands' causes. This unique book pays homage to the women of the Revolution, allowing readers a glimpse into their lives that have for so long been neglected. 283 pages, softcover.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Wonderful information on the women behind the men who were our Founding Fathers  May 14, 2010
Just because their names were not on the official documents that organized our country doesn't mean that women did not take a part. I think they have often been overlooked by history, but this book brings to light their sacrifices and challenges in support of our great nation. It is a good example for todays women, that there is honor in standing for what is right and raising strong successful families. Too often todays women need their name displayed in shining lights to prove to themselves that they've done something great. The women behind our Founding Fathers took pride and pleasure in the success of their families and the changes taking place in America because of their silent but profound sacrifices on our behalf. Inspiring!
A whole new perspective on the revolution!  Feb 27, 2010
This is a collection of letters & reports on the women behind the founding fathers. It gives a unique & tender perspective on what was going on "at home" while the Declaration of Independence was being written. I get a better understanding of what life was like in that time period, of the sacrifices these families made, of the fortitude it took to grow a nation. Fascinating!
An enlightening read  Feb 6, 2008
Describes the hardships and struggles experienced by the wives of those who signed the Declaration of Independence. A very enlightening read; something that should be a part of every high school American history class!
