Overview
What would you do if your town was infested with demons?
Eden, Indiana. When Katherine Adamson returns to her idyllic hometown, everything has changed. The once peaceful town now has a deep evil boiling under the surface. Already it's threatening to escape. Two well-loved high school teens have disappeared, with a running car and a bloody shoe the only clues to their whereabouts. Strange lights have appeared over a local farm, leaving behind only blackened circles. The town's leaders are being blackmailed, and one has committed suicide. Katy has returned to settle her aunt's estate, but she finds herself battling a host of evil she never would have imagined.

More About Gilbert Sharon

Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! Born in the rolling hills of southern Indiana to Appalachian parents, Sharon brings a rich heritage to her writing. A childhood spent wandering along crooked streams and dancing in meadows, coupled with a degree in molecular biology and a short career in opera, have created a patchwork personality that feels at home with many genres. Sharon has lived here, there, and everywhere, preferring her native Indiana to all other lands. While living in Indianapolis, Sharon, whose name was then Sharon Ferguson, sang jingles with the likes of Sandi Patty and Steve Greene, through whom she met David Clydesdale, then of Singspiration Music. As a born-again Christian, Sharon happily said yes to a one-year commitment as a featured vocalist with Clydesdale's CCM group, Life Unlimited, touring the continental U.S., Canada, and the U.K.Later, as an older student at both the University of Nebraska and Indiana University, Sharon studied human genetics, music, literature, and history, giving her a well-rounded approach to learning and a full quiver for writing.A lifelong interest in the supernatural and how it might be portrayed in fiction and on film has led Sharon to her current career as a writer of supernatural thrillers. Married to fellow writer and cocreator of the MythArc series of books Derek P. Gilbert, Sharon is stepmother to a precocious and very gifted teen named Nicole, in addition to acting as assistant keeper to the Gilbert Zoo (three rag-tag rescue dogs named Murphy, Belle, and Gretel). The Gilberts live in Manchester, Missouri.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Fast-paced and exciting read  May 15, 2006
I really enjoyed this book -- reading it in 2 days. The message is worthwhile, and the plot moves along quickly.

Winds of Evil Review  Aug 4, 2005
I thought that Winds of Evil was really good. I liked the characters, they were interesting and all of them had some type of a dark past. I really enjoyed the plot, as well. It was a little scary thinking about demons really trying to take over the world, or even just a little town like Eden. But I like that this is a strong book of faith, and that the author shows that. No matter what happens, we must always trust in God. I give the book a three, because I like the characters and plot, though there are some parts that still confuse me.

No surprises here  May 14, 2005
Everything in the book is flat and over used. Characters lack any dimesion and are very predictable. Katherine returns to Eden after her aunt's unexpected death. She finds something evil had taken root in Eden. She accepts this very easily for someone that has "drifted" in her walk with God. Of course, you have your steadfast pastor, Enoch Jones. He remains faithful in situations that would send most quaking, where does his deep faith come from??? Only the author knows and she isn't telling. The bad people are bad and the good people are good. The story offers no twist or unexpected "gottcha's". Even the development of the romance between Katherine and her old college beau is flat.

Suspenseful and page-turning  Feb 21, 2005
Sharon Gilbert does an incredible job in developing this action-packed series (The Laodicea Chronicles) in book 1 'The Winds of Evil'. Like best-selling authors Frank Peretti or Stephen King, Sharon Gilbert unfolds this story in tangibly vivid detail.
