Item Description...
Not since the memorable Keith Green albums has there been an artist that so poignantly and sweetly encourages believers to a closer walk with Christ, and unbelievers to take the opportunity Christ offers for a wonderful life as a Christian. The title song Why Not Take a Chance reminds the listener that Life hangs in a balance and its all about changing and encourages them Lets change it for the better. This album is an excellent outreach tool for friends, family and churches, and has enjoyable inspiration for all. Two of the songs have already won songwriting awards. Wiles clear, expressive, award-winning vocals captivate the listener. Many of the songs are very touching as Wiles describes Christs love for the listener. The songs are very melodic, with hooky lyrics. Wiles excellent musicianship is highlighted as she played blues harmonica, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, keyboards and guitars on the album. The styles include a refreshing mix of heartland rock, country rock, R&B and ballads. Mary Wiles has won a page full of songwriting and vocal awards from the likes of Billboard, Nashville Music City Song Festival, and Christian Artists International. She has been compared with Barbara Mandrell for her ability to play six instruments. She has toured extensively and opened for Loretta Lynn, Tracy Byrd and the 60s hit band The Association.

More About Mary Wiles

Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! National award winning songwriter, vocalist, performer and multi-instrumentalist. Wiles performed in many rock, country and gospel bands while growing up, and finding work was easy... there was always a need for at least one of the six instruments she could play! After playing in these bands along with a fruitful solo singer-songwriter career, she decided to form her own band, the Mary Wiles Show. With this entertaining Barbara Mandrell style show she has toured extensively. Being able to bring the house down with favorites such as AThe Orange Blossom SpecialA (violin), ADueling BanjosA, and AHot Rod LincolnA (blues harmonica) she quickly reached popularity and acclaim, especially in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to being able to play the banjo, fiddle, blues harmonica, mandolin, guitar and keyboards, Wiles has won many awards as a songwriter, and her originals display her special ability to craft songs that speak to peoplesA hearts and inner needs. In the secular world, Wiles has opened for Loretta Lynn, Tracy Byrd, the 60As hit making group, AThe AssociationA, and has been a featured artist at most of the major fairs in Washington State. Her performances in Nashville have included the famous Bluebird Cafe. Wiles was one of only three chosen to perform on a grandstand stage in the ABest of the NorthwestAs Country Artist ShowcaseA. She won first place in the ABattle of the Country BandsA, competing against ten excellent bands from the region. She has won a pageful of awards from many songwriting and vocal competitions, including Billboard Awards. In addition to being repeatedly compared to Barbara Mandrell because of her ability to play six instruments, Wiles has been rated by the press as one of the top women performers in Northwest Country Music. In the gospel world, Mary has opened for national acts such as Annie Herring of group A2nd Chapter of ActsA, Bob Bennett, Freddie Fields of the 70As group ALovesongA, and the comedy gospel act, AIsaac Air FreightA. Reviews - What do our customers think?
Awsome artist, favorite album  Mar 13, 2006
I put the CD on in the morning to get motivated... great encouragement. Some southern rock with country feel, some ballads, awsome acoustic and lead guitar work. Mary wrote the songs, feel like she wrote them just for me. She plays 7 instruments, awsome harmonica.
Reflective and beautifully performed ballads  Jan 9, 2005
A superlative and highly recommended example of a modern Christian CD music album, Why Not Take A Chance by adult contemporary music artist Mary Wiles mixes heartland rock and country blues with reflective and beautifully performed ballads that will encourage Christians to a closer walk with Christ and invites non-Christians and lapsed Christians to take up the opportunity Christ offers for a wonderful new life within the Christian communion and community. With a thirty-eight minute running time, the ten performance pieces comprising this flawlessly recorded album include Little Bit Closer (2:51); Worship Avenue (2:52); Thanks for the Times (3:55); Ticket to Enter In (3:29); Trainliner (3:36); Ancient Roads (5:09); It Takes a Long Time to Learn (4:11); Moonlight in Her Eyes (3:40); Waymaker (4:20); and the title piece, Why Not Take A Chance (3:40).
