Item Description...
Bestselling author, speaker, and columnist Ronda Rich draws on her rich legacy as an 11th generation Southerner to celebrate the faith heritage of our country's Steel Magnolias.

Publishers Description
Come, sip a glass of sweet tea and sit for a spell with Ronda on the porch swing as she tells you stories of happiness and heartache, friends and family, and a faith that's strong enough to handle anything life throws your way. As Ronda shares, Southerners don't just talk about God, they have a 'kitchen-table faith,' that feels like a comfortable, trusted neighbor who sits down and stays for a good, long visit. It's a faith you live and breathe, day-in, day-out, whether it's praying to the good Lord as you sit on the porch swing or finding joy in a delicious pan of cornbread. As Ronda says, Southern faith 'is a faith that is plain, simple, and sturdy, that is utilitarian in practice and that fits as comfortably in the hands of Southern women as a baby, an iron skillet, a hair brush, a telephone, or a broom.' From stories of moonshine and revivals, Sunday dinners and new Easter outfits, prayers answered and griefs shared, you'll discover a faith that supports you when the trials and heartaches of life cause you to stumble, a faith that grabs you by the elbow and steadies you on the path.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Faith at work in life  Feb 15, 2010
Rhonda Rich shares the deep down faith of southern women who have lived through good and bad times. Forward by Stevie Waltrip has you crying from the beginning, but the stories affirm the abiding love and faith that is part and parcel of Christian southern living. We should all have the convictions of this wonderful witty woman!
Home Spun Stories  Dec 12, 2009
I just loved this book and bought 2 for Christmas gifts. I loved the home spun stories and the fact that the chapters are very short so you can read it in little bits and pick it up again later. Great for busy moms! A very comforting and fun book to read.
Bless Your Heart!  Sep 13, 2009
Having been raised a Southern girl and now having the privilege (and challenge) of influencing my daughters in the art of Southern grace and charm, I found Ronda's book both encouraging and entertaining. It has provided a lighthearted and inspiring respite during the past weeks as I have been facing a challenging personal journey of my own. Having spent most of the summer in the hospital undergoing in-patient chemotherapy treatments for leukemia, the short, sweet vignettes were just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for making a challenging time much more enjoyable! Having received this book as a gift, I look forward to sharing with others who need a "happy" during an otherwise challenging time. This has been an answer to prayer for me in so many ways!
Faith for Profit  Sep 12, 2009
The fact that Rich's other books are an unrelentingly shallow promotion of mean-spiritedness and manipulation to selfish ends (in the guise of celebrating the traditional Southern woman), should give some indication of her qualifications to inform or advise anyone about the spirituality, real or imagined, of Southern women. Her relationship to God is the cozy sort, like being married to an indulgent older man: what he wants for her is whatever she should happen to want at any given moment, bless her heart.
A Perfect Touch of Peace, Joy and Laughter  Sep 6, 2009
In a world that can be much too cruel, especially in today's difficult times, What Southern Women Know About Faith is a much needed uplifter. I cried, I laughed, I rejoiced. It is a lovely blend of spiritual and secular as the author uses real life stories to show how faith can sustain through the difficult times as well as in the good times. I was especially touched by the story of the young woman whose toddler encountered a near fatal drowning accident and the amazing prayer of the woman who held her unconscious child in the ambulance and prayed over him. Should I ever face such a trial, I hope that I can have such faith. I underlined many things in the book and I plan to re-read it as well as give it for gifts. In fact, I plan to give it to a couple of men because these are stories for everyone, regardless of gender.
