Reviews - What do our customers think?
Disappointed  Jun 7, 2008
This is a cookbook with beautiful photos and recipes that are a mix of (i) impressively named dishes that read like something that only a high-end restaurant or catering service would bother with and (ii) recipes you can find in Better Homes and Gardens. The name-dropping of local farms is interesting, but not very. A Full Circle Farm potato is still a potato. Recipes include: Pea Shoot and Enoki Mushroom Salad; Pickled Sea Beans; Clam Chowder and Tea-Smoked Scallops; Dunlop Farm Lamb with Mustard Spaetzle; Gnocchi in a Sorrel Sauce; Spring Vegetable Risotto with Fava Beans, Morels, and Pea Vines; Rhubarb Pie with a Meringue Crust; Grilled Rainbow Trout with Wild Huckleberry-Lavender Reduction; Full Circle Farm Potato Salad; Tempura; Caramel-dipped Apples; Cherry Pie. If you're looking for good, interesting recipes to cook at home, "Your Organic Kitchen" by Jesse Cool is an excellent seasonal cookbook.
delicious, gorgeous, and a bargain  Apr 29, 2008
I love this cookbook and have already made three or four recipes. Try the scallops! A huge hit with guests. It's easy to understand but still pretty sophisticated. Best of all are the introductions to each recipe -- usually boilerplate language in most cookbooks -- offer good advice and anecdotes about the local, seasonal ingredients featured in the recipe. Very inspiring. I also checked out the website of one of the authors ... [...] and found more info about when and where to find the local ingredients.
Very impressive, I am going to try many of the recipes-  Apr 20, 2008
I'm impressed. I really love regional cookbooks because the give a sense of not only what is going on in the local food scene, but also what grows well in the local farming community. This book doesn't disappoint. The recipes are innovative and fresh, without being over-the-top. While reviewing the book, I noticed that the authors kept the recipe contents simple. I don't see any reason why a cook in another part of the country couldn't make most if not all of the recipes. The photography is very nice as well. It really presents the book and the contents well.
