Reviews - What do our customers think?
Disappointing  Nov 5, 2007
I was VERY dissapointed with this series. My daughter read this book in a class designed around it. She told me that everyone in the class, including the teacher, disliked the books and thought them to be quite boring. The book has a very nice Christian message, but does nothing to keep your attention. The book would go on and on for pages about the same topic and was very wordy. All of the reviews and descriptions are very misleading. I have heard that the Elsie series (that was actually written by Martha Finley) were very good and I imagine that is why the Violet series was so bad. Martha Finley did not write them! In the end, I do not recommend this book.
Wellll...  Jun 17, 2005
A lot of other people liked it, so don't consider only this review or anything, but I thought the book was pretty boring. The first third or so I got through kind of quickly, but after that I got a lot slower. It was nice pretending to be Vi during the last third of the book though. :) But overall, I'm not excited about reading the rest of the books, and I probably won't. Then again, I am 14. Oh well. I hope you like it!
Life of Faith Series...NOT written by Martha Finley  Feb 1, 2005
Before I rant and rave, I want to make it clear that I haven't read this book. This review is a warning to those out there who wish to read an adapted version of Martha Finley's works.

I am furious with Life of Faith because of their decision to create a series based on Violet Travilla. It was okay for them to expand from Elsie into Millie, because that's what Martha Finley did. I put my foot down, however, that they do THIS and create a series that Martha Finley never did. Violet Travilla was the daughter of Elsie Dinsmore and her character was very important in the Elsie Dinsmore books, as she was a very special woman and stepmother of Lulu Raymond-one of the few "bad" characters in Elsie's adult life.

Before you read this books that Martha Finley had nothing to do with, I suggest you read about the ORIGINAL creation of Violet in the original Elsie Dinsmore books. Except for racism reasons, I really don't see why Life of Faith was even created to begin with. The original books enhance children's reading and vocabulary skills, and also teach children what books were like in the 1800s and 1900s-when the stories were written and took place.

The only reason why these books have not been given a lower rating is because I haven't read the books and the writing could be well done.
Violet's Hidden doubts  Aug 9, 2004
I really loved this book because I'm a teenager and I can totally relate to violet's situation and feelings. In this book the pages are full of the emotional highs and lows of Violet Travilla's life after her much loved father dies. I always enjoy books that provoke emotion and this book made me laugh, cry, and think about the advice Elsie and Molly and other characters give throughout the book. This book made me understand a little more about myself. You should definitely read it!
Violet's Hidden Doubts  Mar 20, 2004
I am an 12 year old girl and I loved this book. I read all of the Elsie Books, and loved them dearly. I read the Millie Books too, but not as well.
I don't cry much while reading books, but in this book I cried (well I was at school, and my eyes were watering) several times. I love this series so far. This book is a great for young Christian girls.
