Reviews - What do our customers think?
read it. then read it again.  Jun 1, 2010
Everyone should read this book. Then, you'll want to read it again.

Rob Bell will make you think. He'll make you question what he says. I found that I agreed with most of it. But, what I appreciated most was the manner in which he raised his thoughts in accessible language and examples. Rather than telling you what he thinks or why his reader should agree with a statement, Bell lays out his ideas and lets the reader be the judge.
What's wrong with using your God-given brain?  Apr 26, 2010
Wow-This book makes you think-can't you smell the wood burning? I'm planning to re-read it in the next few days. The topic might be upsetting for some people but I loved it and have recomended it to several people.

Velvet Elvis - The good, the bad and the ugly  Apr 12, 2010
I read this book and seen some good in it but also other themes and comments that were off the mark. I recommend reading this book with a suspicious questioning eye and mind (as you should read all books I suppose) as there are some things that could easily set people off in the wrong direction. I have written a more substantial review at [...]
It means what he says that it means....  Mar 23, 2010
Jude 3 reads, "I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints." Rob Bell apparently disagree's. He writes, "The Bible has to be interpreted. Decisions have to be made about what it means now, today." (pg55) This seems to be the very reason he writes his book; to condemn those who hold to the faith once handed down to the saints. This is a very odd book. The author condemns anyone who stands for a solid foundation of doctrine claiming that these are only opinions and interpretations based on the time that they lived. Nothing "once for all" with this book except to say that nothing can be "once for all". Yet he gives us 177 pages of his interpretation of what the Bible actually means. It reminds me of Humpty Dumpty in Lewis Carroll's "Alice through the Looking Glass". "'When I use a word,'Humpty Dumpty said in a rather scornful tone,'it means just what I choose it to mean--neither more nor less.'"
Rockin' Christianity  Feb 19, 2010
Even though at some points the angles of Bell's perspective on Christianity seem a bit 'iffy', I must admit that his perspective is also fresh and revolutionary which are attributes of the entire basis of Christianity at its beginning.
I found my heart being touched and felt inspired as I read--especially during the middle-- like light tinkling bells going off for me as well as a full light bulbs turning on.
To be able to inspire me I am grateful.
