Publishers Description
Yvonne Fountain Copeland is shattered when her husband of fifteen years decides to leave her because their marriage is "boring." Determined to stay strong for her daughters, Yvonne returns to her hometown of Durham, North Carolina, to pick up the pieces of her life. While nursing a broken heart, she begins to take solace in God's promise to "see her through the storm." Little does she know that her golden umbrella will come in the form of handsome Coach Curtis Parker. Coach Parker seems to have it all: money and a successful coaching career at Evangeline T. Marshall University, plus he's single and childless.
But Yvonne and Curtis are two searching souls whirling in circles, trying to attain happiness without God's help. Can they both find what is missing most in their lives? What begins as a series of "why me" questions soon evolves into an extraordinary journey of victory, faith, joy and love.

Michele Andrea Bowen grew up in St. Louis, MO, with a large, church-going family. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, and also the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has worked in Social Work, Public Health, and Education.
Michele became one of the groundbreaking writers in the area of contemporary African American Christian Fiction when her first novel, Church Folk, was published in the summer of 2001. She continued to delight her readers with down-home, funny, uplifting, and heartwarming novels like Second Sunday, Holy Ghost Corner, Up at the College, and More Church Folk.
Now, she will reach out to readers with a brand new three-part novel series called "The Pastor's Aide Club." Pastor Needs A Boo, the first novel in the series, will be out this summer (2014). It answers, finally, all of the questions readers have had about Pastor-FBI Agent, Rev. Denzelle Flowers.
But don't worry, the other two novels in "The Pastor's Aide Club" series, Praying Like Crazy and The Sunday Soul Singles Club, are sure to set to rest' questions readers have had about Charles Robinson and Veronica Washington, along with Charles' employee, Bay Bowser. When readers finish having some serious laughter-filled shaking my head' moments from Pastor Needs A Boo, they will definitely be ready for a second and third helping of Miss Michele's contemporary church folk' with Praying Like Crazy and The Sunday Soul Singles Club.

Michele Andrea Bowen currently resides in Durham, in the state of North Carolina.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Move Along, Nothing To Read Here  Mar 30, 2010
This is likely one of the worst books I've ever read. While I appreciated the attempt at a Christian-based story, the language, the plot, the characters are all so stereotypical that it made it hard to read this book and to take it seriously. It came off a bit preachy and I felt it presented the most negative picture of HBCUs, Black life, Black men, and Black church life. This is one poorly written work of fiction. If you must read it, and I don't really recommend you waste your time, get it from the library.
Christian Romantic Fiction  Mar 10, 2010
The latest offering in Bowen's series, also with a present-day setting. This book was satisfactory, but in many ways the plot reminded me of her last book, Holy Ghost Corner. Even one of the "villains" from the last book was back to raise havoc again. I did think that the beginning was unrealistic, when the wronged wife moved out of her expensive home with her daughters because her husband told her to get out. ANY sister would not meekly comply, but fight back!
Up at the College  Nov 5, 2009
Michelle Andrea Bowen's book, Up at the College, is a wonderful presentation of black college athletics and the maneuvering and back-door deals that are so much a part of colleges---especially athletic programs. I loved the characters, and the character development. Felt as if I grew to know them. But what I did not like was the story's ending. After building up a romance, the book ends with the basketball team's victory. Perhaps there will be a sequel. I hope so because that was no way to end an otherwise good story.
Up At College  Nov 4, 2009
This was another wonderful book by Michelle Bowen. I recommend it as a very good read.
What Happened?  Oct 30, 2009
Loved loved loved her first two books. I was so excited when I found out she was writing another one. I preordered it and all. The anticipation when I first received it was bursting. However, what it turned out to be was a big disappointment. Unlike the first two books, this book was forced, not funny at all, and just seemed pointless. What happened to Ms. Bowen? I don't know, but I hope whatever it was doesn't happen again. Of course I would buy another of her books because I just feel like this one was a fluke and not what Ms. Bowen is truly capable of.

Still a fan...
