Reviews - What do our customers think?
This is it?  Jun 4, 2008
Of the many books that I've read in the last few years, this is one that I'm glad I didn't miss. I read it specifically because I have a dispensational background and wanted a fair criticism of the system. My conclusion is simply: This is it? I thought this was supposed to, in only the most caring way, point out the fatal flaws with dispensational theology.

Instead, the author plainly admits that dispensational theology is internally coherent, and that he's been unsuccessful debating the issue using any particular favorite proof text. The best he can do is to point out that people who believe things are biased (which applies to his system as well), and that he doesn't like the terminology used by authors when they claim to be interpreting things literally.

What I wish he'd done is to boil the issue down to its core: The definition of grace. You either believe in free grace or not. If you do, the ramification will likely be a dispensational approach. If you don't, it won't.

I would recommend this book to anyone concerned that there is some magic time-bomb in dispensational theology. There isn't. I'd also recommend studying grace from a couple of different people (Chafer being one), and then let the chips fall from there.
Thought provoking  Sep 17, 2007
Being raised in classic Dispensationalism, this book was very helpful to engage ideas that I had presumed to be true without serious consideration.
An honest evaluation from the reformed perspective  Jan 4, 2007
The book is an excellent discussion of Dispensationalism from the Reformed perspective. It will help people from both sides understand the issues that separate the two camps. Poythress also calls for open discussion between the two camps with regard to areas in which they are close.
superb!!!  Sep 19, 2006
carefully reasoned, accurate exposition, crisp and clean handling of scripture, the issues are handled with intelligence and sobriety of thought!!
Good Intro Book on Dispensationalism  May 25, 2006
This book is highly recommended for Dispensationalists to think about themselves and see where God wants them to go in the ocntext of 21st century America as well as for non-Dispensationalists. Dispensationalists and non-Dispensationalists should look out for the interests of the Kingdom of Christ and must be loyal to the LORD Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ must be hailed as LORD and not only Savior.
