Reviews - What do our customers think?
Solid Album  Mar 11, 2007
I've had the pleasure of hearing Future of Forestry for several years now as they have evolved from Something Like Silas. From hearing them live dozens of times, I can say that they are an amazingly talented group of musicians. As a result I had very high expectations for the album. Though it did not fully meet those expectations, Twilight is still a very good album. I just feel that some of the power of their live music is lost in the recording. The band uses a "wall of sound" from the guitars and intricate drum patterns to back Eric and Nick's great voices. And yes, in response to the previous review, there is an element of faith and religion in the recording, but that should in no way detract from its musical value. Ultimately, it is a solid album and I am looking forward to see what they are able to do in the future.
'twas ok at first  Mar 8, 2007
I really had some high hopes for this album after hearing a single track on Pandora (a recommendation engine for music lovers). But then I downloaded the album and was unimpressed. Too much religious overtone. Which is sad, because they have a good sound... although kind of whiny at times. Personally, I don't like religion in my music and I don't like it in the schools. If I wanted it, I would pick out music that was in a "bible" section. If you want religion overpowering music/society/anything else, then bring your own religion to it.. or at least have the decency to advertise it (instead of wasting my time).

Final thought: glad I didn't pay for this pile of rubbish. Don't YOU buy it either (unless you're one of the sunday/god crew.)
Amazing album  Feb 9, 2007
I always thought that Something like silas was good and when they changed their name I wasn't worried they would get worse, but this album is light years ahead of anything else they have ever done! It is amazing. If you like emo/coldplay, Juliana Theory, Copeland, switchfoot, dashboard, type stuff, you will love this. I just got it yesterday and i have listened to it like 5 times.
Ditto!  Feb 4, 2007
I totally concur with the previous reviewer. FOF writes and plays songs that are powerfully poignant. The lyrics will resonate with your heart and soul, and the music is beautifully textured and powerful. I thought they were stellar as Something For Silas (Divine Invitation), but they're even better as Future of Forestry. If you profess a Christian-centered spirituality, you will find yourself yearning for the heart of God as you listen, especially to "You and I" (track 8).
Simply Incredible!!  Jan 23, 2007
Future of Forestry, formerly called Something Like Silas, has produced an incredible album. With lush soundscapes that go from quiet and serene to powerful and driving. This cd is a must have for anyone who loves bands that stretch boundaries. There are three songs on this album from their self-titled EP they released last year that start off the album then the next nine songs are brand new, and they are incredible. Its hard to talk about any one specific song since they are all so good. In general all of their songs are ambient and atmospheric making listening to this album an experience. The guitar work is incredible and driving, there is a mix of some piano that is appropriately mixed in, and the rymthm section is tight. The drummer lays down some great grooves. He makes me think of Darren King the drummer from MuteMath with the way he plays because many of his grooves may be slightly out of sync or he will add in some odd fills in places, but they work. All in all this is a great cd. I know this is short but I just got this today and I am still digesting it. However, I had to tell people how good it is. If you haven't heard them go to their Myspace page or their website and check them out. You won't regret it.
