A Delightful Read  Mar 27, 2009
Truffles by the Sea, by Julie Carobini, is a treat indeed! This was a delightful story and is the perfect summertime read. Gaby Flores has troubles galore and her antics are both humorous and endearing. She forms a sort-of relationship with a sea lion she names Sweet Thing, nearly allows an elderly dog she's pet sitting to drown, and has an unfortunate mishap with a kayak. And all her escapades are thoroughly enjoyable! She has a flare for the dramatic and a heart of gold.

Gaby has been a single girl for far too long and has dated way too many frogs searching for her prince. Working hard to fix the upheaval in her life, she now has two guys who appear to be after her affections. Will her new determination to take charge of her life last, or will she soon fall into her old ways? Will she ever get her "happily ever after," or is she doomed to endure a lifetime of singlehood? I recommend this as a light-hearted, endearing Chick Lit novel to anyone who just wants a good read! My recommendation does come with caution though...

Warning: Gaby's passion for truffles will undoubtedly affect and leave you with cravings too!
I love Gaby  Nov 12, 2008
I love the main character Gaby and her light hearted attitude. Gaby would definetly be a friend anyone would like to have. Her world is crashing down around her and yet she is still laughable. Julie Carobini has a unique way of writing, like your in the moment. The humor she portrays is endearing. She guides you through the book giving you tidbits along the way. It keeps the book moving and you never feel stuck in the book. Before long you can't put it down and are skipping meals just to finish.(I did.) I'm not a devout Christian, but I think it would easily cross over into main stream marketing. It's clean. I want characters that I can look up to and revere as good people and Truffles by the Sea really comes through.
Sweet and delicious!  Jul 21, 2008

"Life is like a box of a chocolates; you never know what you are going to get." Perhaps you know this quote from the movie "Forrest Gump." Do you ever feel that way when you go to a bookstore too? Sure the book looks interesting on its cover but it is just as delightful inside the covers?

For "Truffles by the Sea" the answer is definitely yes. From its front cover with its sea of chocolate and relaxing beach chair and umbrella to the end of this book, you will be discovering one treasure after another. Julie Carobini has created a sequel to "Chocolate Beach" that is as equally delicious as her first in the series.

Gaby Flores is a gal who has had a run of bad circumstances in her life. She has recently suffered through another broken relationship, seen her apartment building burn to the ground and discovered that a delivery driver has run off with a great deal of her business. But is that going to get her down? No, she has to pick herself up, dust herself off and go on with her life.

She moves to a tiny waterfront apartment in a rather rich neighborhood. She has been dating many different characters which add a lot of variety to her life. Some of these characters are very colorful, but reading about her adventures in dating will have you laughing. Throughout the book your appetite for creative, fun and Christian friendship will be satisfied page after wonderful page.

There are numerous storylines taking place in this book. However, the transition between the different storylines is very smooth. Gaby's friends Bri and Livi are two of the sweetest friends you could ever meet. But not everything is always smooth sailing. She has many bumps along the road. This book is very inspirational when you see how Gaby has moved on with her life rather than just lie down when the chips are down. Her reliance on God and his timing reigns through.

If your mouth is watering for something sweet and delicious, don't reach for the chocolates and load yourself up with sugar. Reach for "Truffles by the Sea" even though you might want to have a box of chocolates close by, because once you start reading this book you won't want to lay it down until its very last page. "Truffles by the Sea" by Julie Carobini is a treat for people who enjoy good Christian romantic literature! Sink yourself into this treasure today!

What a great book for a summer read.  Apr 11, 2008
Gabby Flores watched her apartment building burn down, discovered her delivery guy has taken off with most of her business, and she has the knack of dating Mr. Wrong. The only way to go is up, right?

From the suggestion of her friend she moves to a waterfront loft and works to rebuild her life. But just when she thinks things can not go wrong she finds her self in the middle of a lawsuit, dealing with a nosey neighbor that gets in everyone's business, and a Don Juan of landlords. Where is the Lord when everything seems to be going so wrong? And is she destined to be single for the rest of her life. Maybe "happily-ever-after" is not for her.

Truffles By The Sea was so delightful to read. It is a perfect, "take to the beach" kind of book, or just reading it you feel like you are escaping to the beach. I usually don't care for chick-lit kind of books, but this Julie Carobini has made me a fan of hers. I will be looking for more books to come.

My only complaint while reading this book is I read it while trying to diet and I was constantly hungry for brownies and truffles!!

Sweets for Sweet One  Apr 2, 2008
I'm a type A personality causing me to hate red lights. Yesterday when I had this book in my car, I was mad when the lights turned green and when the train blocking my path was only a short passenger train. It was frustrating to read half a page and then have to close this delicious book. I expected a nice love story out of this chick-lit story, but I never anticipated the beautiful and unique phraseology that I encountered. Julie did a wonderful job with this novel, packing at least one laugh into almost every page. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves chick-lit. However, I would caution you that if you read at red lights, you'd better have a navigator to tell you when the lights turn green.
