Item Description...
Mia's search for love takes her in all the wrongplaces in turbulent relationships. Imani, their rock, holds onto her sanity with prayer and perserverance. Jasmine, the extravagant one of the bunch, exemplifies the phrase "one life to live." Summer's is the more "settled" one of the group and basically maintains the peace. As their tremendously different lives intertwine into one, it becomes impossible for each woman to cope without the strength and knowledge of the others.

Just trying to help!  Jul 28, 2008
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. There were so many issues covered and these are real life situations but I think the author tried to cover too many at once. I think she probably could have gotten 2 good books out of this one. Also, since just about everyone was a professional, it seemed a little unrealistic that none of them used good grammar.

Having so many issues and having them cleared up so quickly just made the book seem a little bit too neat and tidy. A good example is Evan with aids and Fresno suddenly wanting to have a baby and boom, up pops Roselyn.

I think the author is very good and I will definitely buy more of her books but I think she needs to slow down a bit. If you are going to write another book like this, the book should be at least double the size. Touching on issues this important and not being able to let them ride out is not beneficial to the reader. A good example is Jasmine and Evan. It seems that she caught him in bed with Fresno, he got aids, moved out, went in the hospital, got cured, and moved back home all within two weeks. I would have liked to have heard about some of the feelings that Jasmine experienced when he returned home. She never said she was taking him back. She thought he was going to die so she let him come and stay at home. Did she think about making him leave after he was cured? Did she have feelings about making love to him again knowing that he had turnt her down many times because he wanted a man instead? Or better yet, did they resume their marriage or are they just living as friends. I would liked to have known how the church reacted about Ann. Surely someone else must have noticed that she sat in the First Lady's seat.

These are not complaints but instead just my way of trying to get the author to see how she may write one thing but it comes across another way to the reader.

I am looking foreward to the sequel.

Take care
Dissatisfied  Jun 21, 2008
I did not enjoy reading this book. There were some inconsistencies at the beginning and there were too many issues being dealt with. Initially, the book stated that Jasmine was seven years older than Mia, then a few pages over, it stated that Jasmine, Mia, and Summer were only a year apart. I also found it hard to believe that Mia was an OB/Pediatrician with the poor grammar she used throughout the book. Not to mention the fact that she didn't seem to have a clue what was happening with her pregnancies or with her baby right after the birth; she's a PEDIATRICIAN she should know what happens within the first hour of a baby's birth. I just did not enjoy this book at all. It was difficult to follow and, at times, very hard to understand. The characters were too burden-ladened and one-sided.
What a great book. So well written.  Apr 20, 2008
I think any and every woman can find herself in one of the characters in this book. So down to earth and real to life. One minute you are laughing and the next minute you may find yourself crying. This is one of the best written fiction books I have ever read. Never lends itself to boredom. I have recommended it to everyone I know. It's an awesome read for book clubs. I can't say enough about it. I love the way the author wrote short chapters. I started reading it and had to make myself put it down until later. I am excitedly waiting for her next book. Great Book!!!
