Item Description...
The author contends that to preach is to engage a specific community of Christians in a process of growth and change over time. While every parish has its unique attributes and needs, there are some basic dynamics at work in moving a congregation through resistance and towards transformation. It is on these dynamics that the author focuses our attention as she describes a program of preaching meant to refashion a people.

Publishers Description
Bringing together major papers presented at the tenth Oxford Institute of Methodist Theological Studies, Trinity, Community, and Power offers readers a multi-faceted analysis of Wesley 's doctrine of God. Revealing Wesley 's insights into the nature of God for his understanding of salvation, revelation, and ethics, this volume helps readers understand how a doctrine of the mission of the church is rooted in Wesley 's understanding of God.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Thoughtful, Diverse Presentation  Feb 20, 2010
I was prepared not to enjoy this book too much. Normally I like the writing of a single author about a topic and was a little unsure. The name "Wesleyian theology" in the title caught me because I am a Methodist and study theology.

I found the book to be very interesting with a diverse presentation of concepts presented by a powerful group of authors. I enjoyed it very much because it kept pretty much to the topic at hand and covered it from a variety of perepectives.

This would be interesting reading for any pastor or lay person interested in Wesleyan Theology and the concepts of Trinity, Community and Power.

A good read.

J. Robert Ewbank author of "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'"
