Item Description...
Radical Islamic chaplains are at the root of lethal terrorist activities, and the Navy appoints Lieutenant Zach Brewer to prosecute them for treason and murder, but when the imans hire world-famous Wells Levinson as their defense attorney, he immediately accuses the Navy of putting Islam on trial, and the world watches as David tackles Goliath in the court-martial of the century. Original.

Publishers Description
The stakes are high . . . and the entire world is waiting for the verdict. The Navy has uncovered a group of radical Islamic clerics who have infiltrated the Navy Chaplain Corps, inciting sailors and marines to acts of terrorism. And Lieutenant Zack Brewer has been chosen to prosecute them for treason and murder. Only three years out of law school, Zack has already made a name for himself, winning the coveted Navy Commendation medal. Just coming off a high-profile win, this case will challenge the very core of Zack s skills and his Christian beliefs---beliefs that could cost him the case and his career. With Diane Colcernian, his staunchest rival, as assistant prosecutor, Zack takes on internationally acclaimed criminal defense lawyer Wells Levinson. And when Zack and Diane finally agree to put aside their animosity, it causes more problems than they realize."

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Fast-Paced Courtroom Drama  Mar 2, 2007
Treason is an incredibly fast-moving story. The chapters are short and easy to digest. At times it was difficult to follow the story early in the novel because the author jumped from one plotline to another. But I was pleasantly surprised when everything tied together and I was almost to the end! I agree with several of the reviews that say Don Brown writes understandably and in detail without being too technical. He is a responsible storyteller who writes for both a male and female audience.

One thing that I think our less enthusiastic reviewers fail to see is that there is not open racial hostility expressed toward the Muslim characters in the book. These characters are not stared at in the church or on the military base or in any other setting in the story. In other words, they're just seen as people by the other characters until they behave like terrorists.
Great Story  Oct 30, 2006
'Treason' is a legal thriller with a very interesting plot.

The story is about three radical Muslim chaplains in the U.S. Navy who are on trial for recruiting and directing jihadists who have the 'cover' of being in various jobs in the Navy and Marine Corps.

Charged with murder and directing acts of terror through their proxies, the chaplains are prosecuted by Navy Lt. Zach Brewer, the JAG prosecutor. Throughout the course of the book, Brewer is not only prosecuting the highest profile court martial in Navy history, but is also dealing with issues regarding his own spirituality. Raised as a Christian, he has slipped away from the faith and is currently exploring his own beliefs and commitment.

This is a very well done novel that is highly entertaining as well as thought provoking. I highly recommend it. I also plan to read 'Hostage' which is another book in this series.

NOTE: Yes, this is the same post as I made about its sequel "Hostage," but I felt that it applied here as well.

I'm going to be very honest...Greatest book I have ever read! What's amazing about Brown's writing is that it is in so much detail and is easy to understand. Even if you know nothing about the justice system in either the civilian or military courtrooms, he makes it easy to follow. It's the only book I have ever read that I've actually held my breath just waiting to see what was coming up next. I've actually put the book down, and stared at it for about five minutes debating whether I should pick it back up and read it, even though I was late for work. This, as well as its sequel "Hostage," is worth the read, hands down.

I do want to mention something said about the "Anti-Islamic" message being sent. One has to realize that this series is about terrorist attacks by Muslims, thus it's going to make them look pretty bad. I must say that I am neither Christian nor Muslim. HOWEVER, when I read this book, I didn't just all of a sudden say "Oh wow. These Muslims are really bad people. Let's not trust them." Is the series harsh on religions? Yes, but not so much that it will convert you.

If you know how to separate real life from fiction, then I believe that this is certainly worth the read.
Couldn't Put It Down  May 12, 2006
If you're a JAG fan, like me, I guarantee you won't put this book down. The author brilliantly writes of two high-profile court martials which take place involving the dashing Lieutenant Zack Brewer and the beautiful, sassy Lieutenant Diane Colcenian. Theirs is a love-hate relationship for the ages, which is solidified when they take on the famous defense lawyer Wells Levinson in the prosecution of three Islamic Navy chaplains.

I finished this book and immediately bought its sequel, Hostage. I think I'm falling in love with Zack Brewer.

My only complaint was Mr. Brown did not leave Zack's telephone number anywhere in the novel! Move over Commander Harm! There's a new JAG Super Hero on the block! His name is Zack!

Highly recommended.
Awesome Series!  Mar 20, 2006
I loved reading this series! Mr. Brown did such a great job, that I felt like I was experiencing the trials and relationships between the characters. Diane and Zach's relationship was great to keep reading about throughout both books. I highly recommend buying this series.
