WOW!  Aug 18, 2005
I am more a man of science (I have been studying physics for quite some time now) and althought religion and deep science (especially Quantum mechanics) have a tendency to merge, I have always been sided with the scientifical explanations of our existance as well as the universe's dynamics. However I must say that this movie, apart from the fact of being extremely well done with excellent soundtrack, acting and dialogue, really made a mark on my overall views of our society which I must say really seems to be heading for absolute chaos in the future (not so distant perhaps....). It seems to be that each generation being born is more and more unstable and socially disordered and this trand can only lead to a severe crack of our social unity and standards. Again, I am not much of a religious person but this movie makes me feel that perhaps I should be more of that, because science alone seems unable to answer the deepest universal questions which stands at the core of our very own existance and consciousness. Perhaps the only gripe with this film is the strict christian outlook which excludes other religions points of view (althought all religions have the same end result which is love, that is; unity.....). Also the view of the future is quite nice compared with the real world and many issues (like homosexuality and abortion) aren't exploited at all. Nevertheless there is a powerfull message here down to the very last images. Overall: Very good!
Well known actors, well made and thought provoking...  Aug 7, 2005
When I began to watch the movie I admit I was wondering if it would hold my attention, and am pleased to say it did. It reminded me a lot of some of C. S. Lewis works, which were Biblically based story wise, but also used modern day situations as a teaching tool.I am not some pious person and the movie itself isn't pious. Just Biblical.

And enlightening because it gently reminds the viewer of how far we have come in allowing morally questionable situations into our everyday lives. Watching the movie even I admit it was like a gentle prick of my conscience and what non-Biblical things I see in my everyday life, that sadly one becomes desensitized to.

Like using profanity or taking the Lords name in vain in modern media. Or how casual we have become when it comes to allowing intense affection to be shown between unmarried people. Or clothing we deem 'normal.' Or how the whole issue of Biblical truths in a country founded on Biblical principles that are considered off limits in government or public arenas.

I expected a rather sophomoric production, but was impressed at how professional the movie was made, as well as the well known actors who were in it. It isn't a movie that some secular viewers will appreciate, but I believe it is a great 'wake up' call of a movie and one that more Christians should be aware of and have in their home DVD library.
Surprisingly engaging...& disturbing!  Aug 7, 2005
TIME CHANGER is better, nor worse...of current slew of low-budget end-of-days,Apocalypse Now!movies presaging the Tribulation, the anti-Christ and the Parousia. Except:its very unpretentious minimalism (little conflict;fewer fx;no leering agents of Satan shilling the Mark of the Beast)is what ironically makes this effort Indie success. Yes...many by-the-numbers Fundamentalists will acclaim it unreservedly; and your rad/bad secularists will denounce it with comparable scorn. But,TIME CHANGER is "what it is";a reasonable viewer will accept this.

TIME CHANGER is a PM sermon. Its time travelling is the most literal "deus ex machina" plot device I've seen used since Sydney Carton took Charles Darnay's place on La Guillotine in Dickens'A Tale of Two Cities. Our modest(barely intrepid)Time Traveler, Russell Carlisie, is essayed by modest(barely)intrepid D.David Morin. His acting is adequate and that's enough. He's "there" to make us see what's "here".And...without resort to bedazzling CGI or cosseting glamor of evil...he does: for those with "eyes to see;& ears to hear". Casual attitudes toward stealing; divorce; youthful mockery of authority["Chill out man!];and pretense of post-modernist,thoroughly DECONSTRUCTED(social club)Christian sects is simmeringly catalogued like an architect's prospectus plat for THE CITY OF MAN contra THE CITY OF GOD.

Director Rich Christiano is not even a third-rate St.Augustine. But he's bang-on when he catches Today's PC secularism justifying just about every violation of The Ten Commandments as at best "inappropriate behaviour";at worst bigoted intolerance by anyone calling sin SIN.(The reviewers note...doesn't touch radical--changing of TIME & LAW--PM logoi such as homosexual marriage; or abortion[46,000,000 in USA since Roe v. Wade]thus indicting the makers of the film for lack of the very commitment they challenge their Choir to). the closing frame of TIME suffciently melodramatic to redeem apparent complacency of the movie's overall ambience. But thematically TC is disturbing. Perhaps not for reasons either its critics or lauders cite. Rather for an unsubtle question it poses: ARE YOU PRETENDING?(3&1/2 stars)
Time Changer  Aug 2, 2005
This is a movie that Christians will find very interesting. It compares the late 19th Century to our modern time, and the way things have changed since the removal of moral authority from daily thought. It is well made, and is food for thought in the Christian life. Time travel is an interesting scenario for a story in any case. It is a nice, clean movie that the entire family can enjoy.

Time Changer is a good movie for all ages and for Christians and non-Christians alike. I would recommend it very highly.
