Item Description...
Theology of Her Body and Theology of His Body will feed your teens with liberating answers to their most pressing questions about love and sexuality. These books offer solid, relevant teachings in a language teens understand. But more than just presenting the truth itself, they deliver the tools teens need to achieve the greatness for which they were created. This book comes at a critical time, because tragically, many teens have forgotten their calling, or worse, have never heard it. As a result, they don't know who they are or who and what they are meant to be for one another. This means they often resort to "using" instead of authentically loving others and themselves. Theology of Her Body and Theology of His Body are two books in one. Teens are encouraged to not only learn the truth about their own body, but also to discover the beauty of the opposite sex, for it is in seeing the complementarity of the two sexes that one discovers the real meaning of his or her own body. This is the perfect companion to the Theology of the Body for Teens program, and is also ideal for teens new to the Theology of the Body. One thing is certain: anyone who reads this book will never look at his/her body, or anybody, in the same way again. In these books teens will discover: How to live a life that will make them happy and fulfilled. That their sexual desires are good and holy and actually designed by God. The amazing meaning of their body and that it is very good. Their true calling and purpose in life. How to be the man or woman of greatness they are destined to be. The meaning and power behind the words Beauty, Femininity, Strength and Mission. What it means to be created male and female in God's image of love. The ways we have messed up God's original plan for us and how to fully restore it. ...And much more!

Publishers Description
From Genesis we know that God created men and women in His image and likeness, and from the first letter of John that "God is love." Therefore men and women are made in the image and likeness of Love. This isn't hard to see. Look at the design of the male and female bodies. They are made for each other. In fact, neither makes complete sense apart from the other. The man's body is made for a woman's body - made to be a life-giving gift to her; her body reveals his calling - and vice versa. In this book - which utilizes a dynamic, "flip" book design to be "two books in one" well-known chastity speaker and author Jason Evert unpacks the mystery of what is means to be male and female in light of the Theology of the Body in a language teenagers understand. Teens will learn about the profound realities to which their bodies point - and how to live chastely and lovingly towards those of the opposite sex.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Sex is not just good...  Oct 6, 2009
Sex is not just good; sex is not even great; sex is holy. That is the conclusion of theologians concerning Pope John Paul II's "Theology of the Body." Far from the prudish prohibitions that ignore the reality of hormones, this is a proper understanding of what sex was meant to be and how that understanding is an icon of God. It is no wonder one JPII biographers has compared the theology of the body with a cultural time bomb set to explode sometime in the 21st century.

These are the keys to a new sexual revolution to fulfill what the mid-20th century sexual revolution promised but has failed to deliver. The theology of the body is a demonstration of the longing of the human heart that nothing will satisfy. It is a reaffirmation of Augustine's assertion that "our hearts are restless until they rest in [God]."

If you are familiar with the writings of JPII, you know his style can be difficult to grasp quickly. Jason Evert has given a wonderful simplification of JPII's thought suitable for teens or as a primer to this time bomb. While being a simplification, Mr. Evert avoids the danger of simplistic moralizing that misses the point of JPII's theology. In so doing, Mr. Evert strengthens the ties of this theology to the dignity of the human person.

Mr. Evert divides the material into two sections - one particularly suited for men and one for women. Each section is less than 50 pages making the entire book a quick read. Most teens (or adults) can read the entire work in a single day - which lends it well to sharing. It would be an ideal tool for homeschool or youth group discussions.

Set the time bomb in others. Ideas have consequences and this idea could very well have the power to change our culture for the better.

Great for teens and pre-teens.  Aug 26, 2009
PARENTS! PARENTS! PARENTS! Have the "talk" with your kids and their future spouse will thank you for it. This book is perfect for pre-teens through college bound adults. Quick read and good intro into TotB.
Good book  May 8, 2009
I am looking for a book to use in a 6 week sexuality component for our 8th grade faith formation class. I was desperately hoping that this book would be it, but it's not. Jason Evert does a wonderful job of touching on all the topics that we want to cover...modesty, chastity, sexuality, image of God, etc. The book is also short which wouldn't make it appear intimidating to kids who are being introduced to Theology of the Body. The problems that I had with the book are:
1) The abundance of quotes became annoying. Many of these quotes were by people the kids won't know and after reading them the kids' response would be "what does that mean"? I would have rather just seen a simple explanation of the point that was being made without the quote.
2) the vocabulary and imagery in Theology of the Body is hard for adults to grasp let alone 8th graders. While this book is much easier to understand than JPII's writing, it still is a bit much for young teens who are experiencing these "radical" ideas for the first time.

This would be a great book for a high school introduction to TOB (which may be who Jason Evert was intending it for), but, sadly, many middle school kids are following our culture's lead in thinking sex=love and need to hear this message NOW! I hope someone will write a TOB book geared toward young teens soon.
Truth and Beauty!  Mar 8, 2009
I'm back to purchase more of these books. This is a book that my husband and I wish to hand every young gentleman and have them read before they are allowed to date our daughters! And, this is an important read for every young lady too! It helps to erase the false ideas of our secular culture and replace them with the beauty and truth of God and what He has intended for the relationships of men and women.

All and all, this should be read by everyone (not just teens!). Yes, it's that important of a book! It gives the truth in how we should treat each other in God's great design.
Short and sweet.  Feb 13, 2009
Read it. I finished it in less than five hours. Now I want to get a copy for everyone I know.
