Item Description...
Yes, Virginia, there is a war on Christmas. It's the secularization of America's favorite holiday and the ever-stronger push toward a neutered "holiday" season so that non-Christians won't be even the slightest bit offended. Traditionalists get upset when they're told---more and more these days---that celebrating Christmas in any public way is a violation of church and state separation. That is certainly not what the founders intended when they wrote, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
John Gibson, a popular anchor for the Fox News Channel, has been digging up evidence about the liberal activists, lawyers, politicians, educators, and media people who are leading the war on Christmas. And he reveals that the situation is worse than you can imagine. For instance:

*In Illinois, state government workers were forbidden from saying the words "Merry Christmas" while at work
*In Rhode Island, local officials banned Christians from participating in a public project to decorate the lawn of City Hall
*A New Jersey school banned even instrumental versions of traditional Christmas carols
*Arizona school officials ruled it unconstitutional for a student to make any reference to the religious history of Christmas in a class project

Millions of Americans are starting to fight back against the secularist forces and against local officials who would rather surrender than be seen as politically incorrect. Gibson shows readers how they can help save Christmas from being twisted beyond recognition, with even the slightest reference to Jesus completely disappearing.

Christmas is a Pagan Holiday  Oct 10, 2008
First let me state that if you are Christian and are celebrating Christmas, you are wrong, and have been duped. Christmas is and always has been a Pagan Holiday. Christ or "Yeshua" (his real name) was born in the fall. Tammuz however The Ancient Babylonian Sun God incarnated was born on December 25th. Since the Roman Empire could not prevent Christians from the worship of Yeshua they forced them to honor their Pagan Deities. In fact Pope Constantine (the first Pope who was a Pagan until his death bed) mandated that everyone must worship on Sunday which is a Pagan Sabbath. That is why Christians no longer honor the true Sabbath (Saturday) It isn't scriptural at all. So there is one of your 10 commandments trashed. One of the Pagan celebrations forced onto Christians was Saturnalia or as we know it Christmas another was Ishtar (honoring the fertility Goddess Ishtar) or as we know it Easter. Do the research this is factual ancient history. Christians have been duped into worshipping a false God, yet another Commandment trashed. Christians have been forced by The Roman Empire to abandon their religion. I don't believe they were liberal but I do know they were practicing Pagans. So this author should go back and dig a little deeper. Wake up folks!!!! These holidays have nothing to do with Christianity. If you want to be a true Christian honor the 5 feasts that God mandated and the Yeshua himself observed. The feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Epiphanies, ect, ect...
We Need People like John Gibson  Apr 30, 2008
Here's a drinking game for you and your friends: Get a big bottle of booze & every time you read the acronym ACLU in The War on Christmas, you have to take a drink. If you aren't dead from alcohol poisoning by the end of the 1st chapter, you aren't human. I wonder if some conservative buddy of Gibson's offered him a nickel for every time he used the acronym.

If John Gibson can get The Putnam Company to print this xenophobic nonsense, then the 1st Amendment is safe for all Americans. This book is so silly, ignorant & childish, I wonder about the cognitive abilities of anyone who takes it at face value. The War on Christmas is the kind of thing you might find in the humor section of your local bookstore & it would be written by a Liberal pundit and be filled with goofy cartoons. Ooooo those scary secular LIEberal DEMONcrats are gonna outlaw Christmas, Christianity and, pretty soon, all vestiges of Western heritage. Pretty soon, it won't be safe for REAL Americans (white Christians, of course) to walk the streets in broad daylight. People like John Gibson & his ilk are terrified of America being overrun by........Americans.

I am just barely cynical enough to believe it is possible John Gibson wrote this risible trash just to get attention. He certainly makes little effort to support his assertions with evidence or logic. He cites "facts" and "statistics" without footnotes or any sort of bibliography. He incessantly repeats himself and even contradicts his own basic premise on several occasions. He doesn't have a leg to stand on and he knows it. For a man who, supposedly, is trying to fight for Christians' rights to celebrate Christmas, he certainly does Christians no favor by (unwittingly?) portraying them as ignorant, smug, strident, hysterical and hateful. Almost all Christians I know act like human beings. Obviously, they weren't interviewed by Gibson.

When did fear become the new courage? When did it become patriotic to encourage other Americans to check under their beds at night, believe fervently in conspiracy theories, & to distrust those with differing political viewpoints, religions and skin colors? When did it become acceptable to promote one set of values and traditions as uniquely American and all others as politically correct fakery?

In the end, we need hateful prigs like John Gibson & his ilk to speak their minds because decent, moral Americans need to know xenophobic hatefulness is not yet dead in the greatest country in the world. Only by being able to identify it, can we respond to it and eradicate it once and for all.

Oh...I almost forgot.

Happy Holidays!!

A Sad Day For Trees  Jan 24, 2008
It's sad that a small-minded person such as this is allowed to convey his thoughts to others in any mainstream fashion.

If I were locked in prison for the rest of my life and this was the only reading material around, I would never read again. Ever.

The only thing that saved us from this propaganda is the terrible writing and real lack of cohesion or rational thinking.

John Gibson should be killed.
Wow  Jan 24, 2008
From Wikipedia:
Heath Ledger

On 23rd January 2008 following the announcement of the death of actor Heath Ledger, Gibson opened his show with funeral music and used an audio quote of Ledger saying the line "I wish I knew how to quit you", taken from the movie Brokeback Mountain, and commented "Well, he knew how to quit you!" Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, "We're dead," followed by his own, mocking "We're dead" before playing the clip again. Throughout the course of the show, Gibson continued to bring up Ledger's death, jokingly claiming that current events may have caused him to commit suicide, suggesting that Ledger killed himself because he had "a serious position in the (stock) market" or perhaps "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant."[4]. He also referred to Ledger as "a weirdo" with a "serious drug problem".
