Reviews - What do our customers think?
Children Now Have A Voice  Feb 20, 2008
I am the Founder and President of a Christian ministry based in Nashville, TN. My children are also victims of divorce. When they were younger,I often wondered what they were thinking and how they were "really" doing. Dr. Evon Flesberg, a pastoral counselor, divinity professor and ordained ministry has finally given voices to children of divorce. Voices all parents need to hear. This book is an honest and sometimes disturbing look at what children of divorce really think and what they really feel. I have many occasions to talk with married men and sometimes their woman about impending divorce. In my opinion, no parent with children has permission to divorce until reading this book and pondering the results of their actions. It's not only a must read but should be a required one.
Kudos from one who has been there  Feb 20, 2008
As a mother who has been through this process and on the other side, this book is right on! It provides the needed perspective from your child's point of view, which is so easy to lose sight of when one is experiencing powerful emotions of their own. This is a must read for all parents going through the painful process of divorce. Dr Flesberg shares on-target wisdom from years of interviews, observations, and a keen academic mind. She helps you keep the needs of your child(ren) in focus.
Powerful and applicable to all.  Feb 18, 2008
This powerful and thought provoking book should be required reading for all divorcing couples with children. It is truly applicable to anyone touched by divorce and with the current divorce statistics that likely includes everyone. Dr. Flesberg has given us insight into the child's world, enabling us to develop compassion and then to take action. It is an easy read, but their is nothing simple about this book or topic. I only wish it had been available 15 years ago to help guide me and my child through the "switching hours". I have already bought several copies to give to friends and fellow counselors.
A "Must-Read" for everyone!  Feb 11, 2008
Dr. Flesberg has approached an area that is so often over-looked in families where there is divorce. It is an "easy read" for the layperson, but also very well written and documented for the professional. The book does not point fingers of blame and shame at the divorce couple...rather it lifts up the children who are caught in the cross-fire of the situation. The letters from the children are compelling and heart-wrenching. Her analysis and understanding of the situation comes through her years of counseling and helping such families. Her approach is very sensitive and caring. I especially found the last chapters which invite the readers to reflect upon their own situations and come up with positive solutions, very helpful! I have given the books to several people with whom I am working. I am in hopes that the court system might require this book for people going through divorce to read and consider the children and how their needs can be better addressed. pf
helpful for kids too  Feb 7, 2008
I've already given copies of this book to friends needing help and encouragement after divorce.
