Reviews - What do our customers think?
Very Sweet  Mar 24, 2007
Very sweet and romantic. Shows how this couple grows in their trust and love towards each other and the Lord. Good read for teen and up.
Best Book So Far  Mar 12, 2007
I bought this book, kinda out of bordem, the last few books I have read have been boring. I found myself stopping, and putting the things down.
Yet this book, I could not put down, I had to keep reading, and every time I had to put it down, I wonder what happened next.
I wish part two would be written of this book, maybe see what became of the children? If there ever were children, you'll have to read to find out.
A contemporary story of commitment  Dec 18, 2006
Reviewed by Kelli Glesige for Reader Views (12/06)

"The Princess" tells the contemporary story of the lovely and graceful Shelby who lives a simple but devoted life with Daria, her mother, and Josiah, her deaf father, who is a barber. Her wholesomeness and devout life is soon noticed by the king and queen of the House of Markham, who are searching for a new wife for their widowed son, Prince Nikolai.

What soon develops is an arranged marriage between Shelby and Nikolai who appear to be the perfect couple at all public functions. But problems abound under the surface for Shelby who has left her home and all that is familiar to come and live with the royal family. She has no one to confide in or share her problems with, for there are some things a new bride just cannot share with a mother-in-law. Daily prayers and conversations with God enable Shelby to get by.

Nikolai struggles with his own problems because he loved his now departed first wife so much, and it is too soon to even think that another could replace her in his broken heart. Such a distant relationship leaves Shelby and Nikolai quite empty and alone. Both believe in God, the power of prayer, and the sovereignty of God, however, and God works miracles.

I am a fan of Lori Wick, and I enjoy a good romantic Christian fairy tale. Shelby is the PERFECT princess with beauty, grace and personality. Nikolai is tall, handsome, knows how to treat a lady, and is such a caring husband to Shelby. For these reasons, I loved this story of a contemporary arranged marriage. Of course, I doubt we could ever find such perfect people as Shelby and Nikolai, but that is what makes reading fiction so enjoyable. Just escape reality a while and enjoy the journey Lori Wick will take you on.

I highly recommend "The Princess" and give it a five-star rating without a doubt. It is appropriate for all ages of readers from teens and above. Lori Wick writes a lovely story without having to resort to shock or violence to keep her readers riveted.
The Princess  Dec 12, 2006
The Princess is a good read, but if you are expecting dungeons and knights and such and such, you don't really get that. However, it is an intriguing storyline. I would recommend it to anyone. In the Princess, the princess and prince have a hard time getting on the same wave length with one another when it comes to love, but by the end they get there. You will have to find out how on your own. At some points, I thought I would never see them together happily, but it finally ended and I wanted a sequel of their life together. It is a very good read.
Mixed feelings  Aug 1, 2006
I love Lori Wick books. And I love sweet fairy tales. The first time I read the book I enjoyed the read. It is a sweet romance and put a smile on my face. I've now read the book several times and while I still enjoy most aspects of the story line I do have a few complaints. Shelby is far too perfect. She is tall, slim, beautiful, graceful, friendly, sweet. She just drives me crazy!!! Nick does not seem a believable character either. I just could not relate to the characters. Also, the characters often commit minor infractions which are considered "sins" in the book. But I felt that everyone repented and was just so perfect for the rest of the story.
Also, has anyone else noticed that Lori uses the phrase "as a rule" all the time? When Nick asked Shelby's forgiveness for his angry outburst. He stated that "as a rule" he didn't anger easily. He seemed so domineering and authoritative at times. Maybe that's why Shelby is so meek and spineless.
Overall, the story is a sweet fairy tale, if a little shallow, with characters that are WAY too perfect for my tastes.
