Item Description...
For over twenty years, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has fought for animal rights using creative tactics that have included media stunts, shocking footage, and numerous celebrity endorsements. Such stars as Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson, Chrissie Hynde, Joaquin Phoenix, Prince, Drew Barrymore, Gillian Anderson, Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron, Kevin Nealon, and many others have made a commitment to a cruelty-free lifestyle and a compassionate diet.

Now PETA has gathered all the fun and simple recipes of its celebrity sponsors into one book. You can enjoy Alicia Silverstone's Artichoke Dip, dig into hip-hop king Russell Simmons' Mama's Mock "Meatloaf," savor Fabio's Red Hot Risotto, and chow down on Fiona Apple's Sweet and Sour "Neatballs."

Delicous Recipes  Dec 23, 2007
The Peta Celebrity Cookbook is a colorful cookbook, 100+ pages of recipes. They've got recipes from appetizers through desserts.

The recipes are from vegan and vegetarian celebrities, and are they REALLY DELICIOUS! I've tried Russell Simmons' "meat"loaf, Kevin Nealon's sweet roasted root veggies, and this PETA lady's Shepherd's Pie. WOW, my family (including a finicky toddler) loved them all.

These recipes are so great, you won't regret getting this cookbook. I've gotten rid of most of my cookbooks over the years, but this one is a total keeper.
PETA-People eating tasty animals  Nov 20, 2007
Why not eat your friends when they taste so good?

Hey everyone, I'm eating a hotdog right now. No really, I am. I like hotdogs the best because I could be eating 3-5 different animals at once! When it comes to animals I'll eat whatever is available! You don't have to stick with eating pigs, cows, and chickens. You can eat squirrels, dogs, cats, monkeys, goats, orangutans, parrots, marsupials, etc. If it's alive you can k!ll it and eat it.

There are many ways I can justify this behavior.

1.) A lot of animals eat other animals, so if it's ok for them to do it, why not me!? Lions, sharks, bears, etc all ferociously k!ll and eat other animals. So why can't I k!ll and eat them? It's only fair.

2.) When it comes to the wimpy herbivores, hey, if I don't eat them something else will! All they do is stand around munching on grass, asking to be k!lled and eaten! That's what God created them for, so why take away their reason to live?

3.) If I don't k!ll and eat an animal, it is going to die anyway, usually within the year and all that meat will go to waste! With all the starving children in the world, it is a sin to let food go to waste. The same goes with meat that is for sale, if that meat isn't sold it will be thrown out and the animals would have died for nothing.

4.) If we weren't meant to eat animals, then why are they so delicious? Nature tells us what to eat and what not to eat by how it tastes, that is why poisonous things are so disgusting that we spit them out. Nature encourages us to eat animals by making them tasty!

Sadly, there are some people that actually believe eating animals is wrong! They even go so far as to equate animals with humans! Or even put animals over humans. Such silly thinking can only be cured by sneaking meat and meat by-products into their food. When they eat it an realize they don't die, and see how scrumptious it is, they will give up their silly thoughts and become normal.

For some reason most of these animal lovers take things a little too far and really fall in love with their animals and do obscene things with them.

My favorite bible verse is: "And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; k!ll these animals and eat." Acts 10:13.
Great cause, great book  Mar 2, 2006
Most vegans are familiar with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and all the wonderful work they do in protecting the rights of animals - especially in factory farms, laboratories, in the fur trade, and in the entertainment industry.

PETA has published several cookbooks but an especially fun one is The PETA Celebrity Cookbook. Not only is it encouraging to find out that many celebrities are vegan, the recipes are really good.

In the cookbook, you'll find "benevolent breakfasts" like actress Bea Arthur's Good Morning Mushroom-Tomato Toast and professional wrestler's Jackhammer Soy Slammer Smoothie. "Luscious Lunches" include: musician Belinda Carlisle's Tofu To Go-Go Sandwich, actor Jackie Chan's Eggplant "Steaks", and musician Paul McCartney's All You Need is Avocado Soup.

You'll also enjoy the "animal-friendly appetizers" like entertainer Bob Barker's Savory Italian Bruschetta, actress Cassandra Peterson's (AKA Elivira, Mistress of the Dark) Mushroom Pate en Croute, and actress Alicia Silverstone's Steamy, Creamy Artichoke Dip. There are "sumptuous side dishes" such as executive chef Peter Schaffrath's Potato, Black Bean, and Corn Cakes and actress Amber Benson's Potent Potato Salad.

For dinner, try one of the "enticing entrees" like actor Alec Baldwin's Miami Blues Red Beans with Garlic, actress Candice Bergen's News Breaking Burger, or Fabio's Portobello Passion. There are plenty of "decadent desserts" too. Actress Christina Applegate's Sweetest Truffles will make a luscious Valentine's Day dessert and actress Rue McClanahan's Extreme Cream Cheesecake is absolutely sumptuous.

The book includes full color pictures of the celebrities with quotes about why they are vegan. In addition, there is an animal-friendly shopping list and information about the health benefits of a vegan diet by Dr. Neal Barnard, President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. If you're looking for a fun book with easy recipes and want to support a great organization, I recommend getting this book.

A Cook Book For Everyone  Aug 22, 2005
This cook book has a nice variety of easy to make dishes, though we've had one or two recipes that didn't turn out.(probably due to my mistakes, not the books!) It's actually a lot of fun to read due to the celebrity edge, and I don't think you need to be vegan to enjoy the way it's written or the healthy recipes.
A must have for any animal rights supporter.  Apr 11, 2005
Now this isn't my favorite vegan cookbook. And to be honest almost all these recipes can be found on the peta website. But I think it is a classic. I use the book once in awhile, but once I do a recipe i can pretty much wing it (except the desserts) This is a book you should get because it is helping support peta. It also has bios from vegetarian celebrities with pictures and how they became vegetarian. It would actually be a really good coffee table book. I haven't had any trouble with the book falling apart, but because it doesn't have many recipes (less than 80) it isn't my most used cookbook. All the recipes are very simple with easy ingredients to find. I think this cookbook is a must!
