Item Description...
Everything Needed to Understand and Appreciate the Traditional Latin Mass. Fr. George Moorman. 185 Pp. PB. Extremely informative, yet very easy to read! This book explains prayer by prayer, what happens at the Latin Mass and why. Why is the Mass in Latin, the use of silence, bells, specific colors, etc.---and how we participate. Reviews are very enthusiastic! Ties in beautifully with Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio opening the door to the universal celebration of the Latin Mass.

Publishers Description
This easy-to-read book reveals the What, Why and How of the Traditional Latin Mass - which Pope Benedict XVI has now called the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. Catholics of all ages will find that the Mass - and the entire Catholic Faith - has been opened up to them by The Latin Mass Explained. Section One gives an excellent explanation of the nature of Sacrifice, the Old Testament Law, the Sacrifice of the Cross, the Sacrifice of the Mass and the relationship between the Cross and Mass. Section Two thoroughly describes the visible and audible aspects of the Mass. Explains the use of Latin, the position of the Altar in relation to the people, the vestments, the sacred vessels and more. Section Three is a step-by-step explanation of the historicity, symbolism and meaning of every action and prayer contained in the Latin Mass. This section is invaluable to any who would understand this august form of Divine Worship.

The Latin Mass E-X-P-L-A-I-N-E-D  Feb 23, 2008
Msgr. Moorman's explanation of the Latin Mass in this small book is great. Before even beginning to explain the bits and pieces of the Latin Mass, he explains /what/ the Mass is and that means for us. The book was immensely helpful in better appreciating not only what takes place at Mass, but appreciating the Tridentine liturgy as something that must be preserved. Msgr. Moorman clearly and succinctly explains everything about the Latin Mass-- what it is, why, what is used/why, and what the prayers mean.

For anyone wishing to attend a Latin Mass, I also recommend this book as a practical point; there's a list of when to stand, sit, and kneel during the liturgy--so no worries about feeling lost!
