Item Description...
Helius, Nero's most trusted advisor, anticipates the death of his sworn enemy, the legendary warrior Gallus Sergius Vitas, scheduled to die a gruesome death in the arena. However, the badly beaten man who appears in the amphitheater is not who he seems. Rescued by a stranger and given a mysterious scroll, Vitas is told that he must decipher this letter to find the answers he needs--a letter that Helius is also determined to decipher and to keep hidden from Nero. As Nero's reign of terror grows, so does his circle of enemies.

More About Hank Hanegraaff & Sigmund Brouwer

Hank Hanegraaff Hendrik (Hank) Hanegraaff serves as president and chairman of the board of the North Carolina-based CHRISTIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE. He is also host of the nationally syndicated Bible Answer Man radio broadcast, which is heard daily across the United States and Canada—and around the world via the Internet at

Widely regarded as one of the world’s leading Christian authors and apologists, Hank is deeply committed to equipping Christians to be so familiar with truth that when counterfeits loom on the horizon, they recognize them instantaneously. Through his live call-in radio broadcast, Hank equips Christians to read the Bible for all it’s worth, answers questions on the basis of careful research and sound reasoning, and interviews today’s most significant leaders, apologists, and thinkers.

Hank is the author of more than twenty books, which have cumulatively sold millions of copies. Christianity in Crisis and Resurrection each won the Gold Medallion for Excellence in Christian Literature awarded by the Evangelical Christian Publisher’s Association (ECPA); and Counterfeit Revival and The FACE that Demonstrates the Farce of Evolution each won ECPA’s Silver Medallion—the latter published in the condensed Fatal Flaws: What Evolutionists Don’t Want You to Know.

Other noteworthy volumes include The Prayer of Jesus, which rose to number one on the Christian Marketplace Bestseller list October 2002, and the popular Complete Bible Answer Book—Collector’s Edition, which clearly and concisely answers common questions regarding Christianity, culture, and cults, while tackling complex questions including, “How can Christians legitimize a God who orders the genocide of entire nations?” and “How could the Bible command a rape victim to marry her rapist?”

Through his ground-breaking The Apocalypse Code: What the Bible Really Teaches about the End Times and Why It Matters Today, as well as his historical fiction works The Last Disciple Series and Fuse of Armageddon, Hank exposes the dangers of both Christian and secular Zionism. And in Has God Spoken? he provides memorable proofs for the Bible’s divine inspiration. Additional works include The Legacy Study Bible, The Covering: God’s Plan to Protect You from Evil, The Creation Answer Book, and the forthcoming novel The Last Temple.

He is a regular contributor to the award-winning CHRISTIAN RESEARCH JOURNAL and an articulate communicator on the pressing issues of our day, having spoken in leading churches, conferences, and on college campuses throughout the world (most recently at the University of Tehran, Iran). Hank and his wife, Kathy, live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and are parents to twelve children.

Hank Hanegraaff currently resides in the state of California.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
A good read  Jan 3, 2007
I liked this book as well as the first of the series (The Last Disciple). As I said in my review of The Last Disciple, it provides both a good read (not as good as The Last Disciple in my opinion) and makes the preterist's view of end-times a compelling alternative to the futurist view taken in the Left Behind series.

BTW: At the time of this post, I haven't heard anything about the next book (the third one) in the series....but this book (book two) really left me wanting for the next one.
New ideas are always welcome  Dec 27, 2006
The Last Sacrifice is the second book in the Last Disciple series (currently only two books in the series). It most definitely challenges the belief held by the majority of Christians that the antichrist has yet to come and that all end time prophecies will be fulfilled in the future. In this series, it is basing the idea off the fact that many of the end time prophecies were fulfilled during Nero's reign. The section at the end of each book helps their belief and I would suggest reading it first before starting the novel itself.

My critique on this book is much like it was for The Last Disciple in that the story line itself is very interesting and the way the authors include so much detail about Jerusalem, the Roman empire, and the culture of that time period is amazing and that alone might make this novel worth reading. The writing style itself though tends to make me want to shy away from recommending this book to others though. I forced myself through it but often wanted to just quit and move on to something more entertaining. The reason for this is the way the writers jump back and forth between story lines and they enter and exit characters with no introduction or notice.

The Last Sacrifice is written better than the Last Disciple in that it tries to stick to one story line for a few chapters and then it drops it for a long time much to my disapointment...guess you can't have it both ways.

My only other complaint for the Last Disciple series is this, the Last Sacrifice has an ending that has to lead into another book in the series, yet in all my research I could not find out when the next novel will be released!!! It is one thing to have a cliffhanger and be anxious to read the next but know you have to wait 6 months, it is another to not even know if they will publish the next novel. That is another reason I am not sure I would ever recommend this book to anybody else at least until the series is closer to being complete.
Interesting read  Aug 22, 2006
While I disagree with the authors' interpretation of who the antichrist and the beast is, I still find this book fascinating. The story was full of plot twists that kept me guessing till the end. I may not agree with their interpretation of the book of Revelation, but this story contains a few gems of its own, like faith under persecution and Christ's grace in times of trial. The book was well written and clearly well researched. The characters seem realistic and the plots are well developed.
History, drama, tension, character development and theology; Great read!  Aug 10, 2006
It was a brutal time with brutal people living by the sword. Brouwer and Hanegraaff capture what it must have been like for first century Christians during the tribulation. Every chapter ends with tension as they develop a story line of events in Rome, Alexandria and Jerusalem. I read the first book in the series, Last Disciple, (and enjoyed it more) and this book takes up where that book left off. If you are a student of the Bible you have to be impressed with the careful research and how the story line tracks with scripture.
If you don't understand Preterism, this book is a fun place to start. If you want another view of Revelation, this book will give you something to think about. And, if you assume the Left Behind series is the only interpretation of Revelation, this book is a must read.
I did not give Last Sacrifice five stars because the authors spend too much time repeating what happened in the first book of the series. At some points the drama became tedious, but I very much enjoyed both books in the series.
Before you buy this book copy/paste the following phrase into a Google Search.

"Hank Hanegraaff" financial

After your Google Search, come back for the rest of my review.

Now, as you have seen, Hank has had real problems with financial accountability. That disturbs me! How can a person represent himself as "THE BIBLE ANSWER MAN" who claims to be standing for truth and righteousness and yet behind the scenes has had real problems with financial accountability in his ministry? Even Christianity Today has reported on this.

My advice? If you just cannot live without reading this book, buy a USED copy so the money goes to someone other than Hank.
