Item Description...
Weeds choke our faith and leave us fruitless. Once we shed the weeds of harmful attitudes, we can grow unhindered and the result is a fruitful life. This book is for anyone who wants to grow personally and spiritually in their relationship with God.

Publishers Description
You can flourish with a life of fruitfulness, faith, and joy. The Journey Out is about moving out of the weeds that choke our faith and into a life of fruitfulness. Based on the Parable of the Sower where the good seeds fall among the thorns, the book will challenge you to move beyond stagnancy and routine to growth in relationship with God. By removing harmful attitudes and replacing them with fruits of the Spirit and character traits that foster real relationship and authenticity, you will find the freedom to flourish unhindered. The author, inspired by her own relationship with God, shares her journey out of the weed patch and into deeper relationship with the Master Gardener. This book focuses on developing the character traits of patience, trust, compassion, and gratitude, among others, in the context of relationship with God. It also addresses the issues of anger, worry, perfectionism, haste, and other similar weeds that can prevent us from growing in our journey with God. Once we experience newfound freedom, the result is a life of fruitfulness and a harvest unimpeded by attitudes that hold us back. Weeding Out Obstacles to Faith  Mar 22, 2010
The Journey Out is an opportunity to look at the attitudes hindering our spiritual growth. Like overgrown garden weeds, we learn from reading this book that attitudes such as perfectionism, worry, victimhood, entitlement, judgment, anger, denial, complaining, religiousness, selfishness, haste and pride are suffocating our spiritual growth. A chapter is devoted to each attitude, with scripture verses to support spiritual growth. Each chapter ends with a summary, questions from the author, a special prayer, and a special verse. The book would be excellent for a womens Bible study- reviewing three attitudes per week of study. I lead an online study and intend to use this book in future study. I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author, and I highly recommend it for life lessons, scripture verses, and a journey out of the weeds...into fruitful living.
Authentic  Mar 28, 2009
I appreciate the author's authentic examples of her own journey out. The questions at the end of each chapter really help you to thoughtfully review and apply what you have just read. This is not a book to be rushed through but rather read with careful consideration. I found myself going back through some of the chapters several times just on my first reading and know that I will return to this book on my continued journey out. I also appreciated how the author always points you back to God and His Word all throughout the book. This book is a wonderful tool to use during your private devotional time.
Insightful and Helpful  Feb 25, 2009
I enjoyed this book tremendously. I am actively pursuing my walk with God and I feel this book has come at the right time. I realize after reading this book that there are a few attitudes in my own heart and distractions in my life which have hindered my walk with God over the years and I didn't even realize it. Now, looking back, I see a few of the pitfalls that prevented me from growing spiritually.

Flores describes these attitudes as weeds in our lives. Weeds steal nutrients from plants and prevent true growth, just as our attitudes and distractions in our lives prevent us from growing and maturing. We live our lives being distracted by many things around us and allow attitudes in our own hearts choke out personal growth.
Flores describes these attitudes in her book and delves deeper into each one in hopes that they might be revealed in our lives to be uprooted and removed. We must tend our own gardens and uproot those weeds ourselves.
There are 12 weeds described in her book, and she urges us to read them all and search our own lives, so that we may uproot those harmful attitudes and ideas. This is done through prayer, and open heart and a deep search within.

Here is the list of chapter titles:

Chapter 1: Description of the Weed.
Chapter 2: The weed of perfectionism vs. the fruit of trust.
Chapter 3: The weed of worry vs. the fruit of peace.
Chapter 4: The weed of victimhood vs. the fruit of confidence.
Chapter 5: The weed of entitlement vs. the fruit of contentment.
Chapter 6: The weed of judgement vs. the fruit of compassion.
Chapter 7: The weed of anger vs. the fruit of forgiveness.
Chapter 8: The weed of denial vs. the fruit of repentance.
Chapter 9: The weed of complaining vs. the fruit of gratitude.
Chapter 10: The weed of religiousness vs. the fruit of authenticity.
Chapter 11: The weed of selfishness vs. the fruit of giving.
Chapter 12: The weed of haste vs. the fruit of patience.
Chapter 13: The weed of pride vs. the fruit of relationship.
Chapter 14: When your garden grows - A harvest of fruitfullness
must read  Feb 23, 2009
This is a book that is extremely helpful for one who is on "The Journey Out", thus the title. The author seems to be talking one on one to you as she specifically describes you and your personality that is keeping you from having the relationship we need with God. Using her counseling training and experience, she suggests several different techniques to "pull the weeds" out your way in order to have that wonderful relationship. It is an easy read, yet, very spiritually educating. If you desire to be closer to God and enjoy all of His blessings, invite Him into your life and read this book to help you learn how to do it!
At Last!  Nov 11, 2008
This is a deeply compassionate book that wants you to grow spirtually and shows you how to cultivate love for yourself and others using Scripture and prayer. Finally a book that combines the best of secular psychology and Christian faith. Each chapter addresses a particular and common obstacle or "weed" such as anger or pride that prevents us from living a fruitful life and offers specific contemplations, exploration questions, Scriptural verses, and focus prayers to overcome these. This excellent book works. I love this book.
