Reviews - What do our customers think?
Hilarious and romantic!  Mar 30, 2007
What an adorable story! Trish Perry has put together a witty and romantic Christian comedy that I read in one sitting, simply because I could not put it down! Kara and Gabe meet, and it's obvious that they're smitten with each other. But Kara's heart was recently broken, and now she's testing a new theory of not dating, but building strong friendships with guys before introducing the idea of romance (which is a great idea and makes sense, but I thought was taken a bit extreme). While Gabe is bummed that he won't be dating Kara, he is determined to be her friend, in her presence, getting to know her as best he can under the circumstances. Families and coworkers suddenly interfere, and that leads Gabe and Kara on a road trip from Virginia to Miami, with siblings and great aunts included, and THAT'S where the real fun begins.

All the characters are developed well, but I enjoyed watching Gabe's sister Rachelle grow and change. She slowly learned to appreciate the belief in God that Gabe and Kara shared, which became a very sweet and believable conversion. I loved Kara's British friend Jeremy, and hopefully we'll get a book all about how he finds his Savior, as well as a lasting romance! And you'll love the eccentric Aunt Addie, who has just enough attitude as Tiffany, "the snippety one."

I was laughing out loud from page one, and it certainly didn't stop there. The dialogue was witty and entertaining, the characters were all sweet and realistic, the plot kept me riveted, but the subtle romance that was NOT blooming between the two main characters was what kept me turning pages. This is a delightful and charming story that I would highly recommend. It's a Christian romance, though not your typical story, filled to the brim with humor and values, and I can't wait to read the next book by Trish Perry.
Even my husband enjoyed this book!  Mar 2, 2007
I had heard good things about this book, so I took it along on my honeymoon to read on the airplane. I could not put it down! It was easy to imagine Kara and Ren and Gabe as real people... they are so much like my own friends. Perry wrote a story that was funny, poignant, and not schmaltzy.

My husband read it, too, despite the pink cover & chick-theme. Once he picked up the book, he had a hard time putting it down, too- even on our cruise!

Hooray for a true romance & a fun read!
At last!  Feb 27, 2007
At last, moms of teenaged girls have a book their daughters will want to read that promotes friendship rather than sex on the first date. Trish Perry uses humor entwined around a realistic story to emphasize an important message. The book moves at a fast clip as the plot makes the reader feel part of the action. The characters are as real as the people in your neighborhood. This is a book I'll be recommending to my friends!
Funny. Sassy. Well written  Feb 23, 2007
I'd much rather read a humorous novel with a message than those revenge/horror/"describe the flies in the body" downers that pass for entertainment these days. That's not to say this is a fluff piece. If you're an avid reader, you'll read the ingredients list on a cereal box, or the 10-year-old magazine in a doctor's office, but you draw the line at poorly written novels. When a story unfolds this seamlessly, with humor, you're hooked. Not just on this novel, but whatever else Perry turns out. I'm a fan now.
Fun read  Feb 23, 2007
I've always been skeptical of Christian chick lit since my grandma used to pass off her books to me when I was a teenager - they were just so sappy! I was so pleased to get through "The Guy I'm Not Dating" without encountering a bit of sap.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in two days - an incredible feat considering I had a 5 week old baby at the time. Trish does such a great job with character development and made each of her characters real. When I was finished with the book I was so sad to see all my friends go, but I'm glad they'll be back in the next book, "Too Good to be True."

Highly recommended for guys and gals of all ages. My husband enjoyed it too!
