Item Description...
This book draws on the spirituality of John's gospel and Ignatius of Loyola to stress that our deepest desires and God's will for us coincide when we let go of selfishness; and that God's deepest longing is to dwell in us, to make a home in our souls. In this masterful exploration of spiritual journeying, van Breeman suggests that life is not a series of problems to be solved, but rather a wonderful mystery to be appreciated and lived fully. Drawing on the work of Meister Eckhart, Teresa of Avila, Blaise Pascal, and Antoine de Saint Exupery, van Breeman weaves a picture of what it means to be Jesus' light in the world, and to live in personal peace, without fear.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Immersed in God's Love  Nov 2, 2009
Using Scripture as the basis of his meditations and supported by spiritual writers over the centuries, Fr. Peter van Breemen has provided a small volume (113 pages) attesting to God's love of human beings. We tend to disbelieve that we can be loveable, but Father gathers verses from many sources which present God not as an omnipresent eye, an exacting judge, or a disinterested or distant creator, but as one who truly loves humankind. Do most of us believe God "takes joy in human beings" as one quoted author states? Or give credence to Isaiah's words, "You are precious in my sight"? One can allow such words of tenderness, care, love--yes, even longing--to wash over one and allow the truth of God's concern to penetrate one's being. If we truly accepted the message developed herein, would not our world be a happy place, a treasured home of shared joy and communion?
Longing to Share This Book  May 29, 2009
What a gem this book is! With elegant, loving, warm words, van Breemen invites us to a deeper knowledge of what those longings in our soul are about--the ones only God can fill. The discussion/meditation questions are insightful and provocative and the Scriptural references can lead one on a week or more of deeper contemplation. Thank you Peter van Breemen.
