Item Description...
The Chariot are no longer the new kids on the block. What began, in the minds of most of the hardcore and metal underground, as the highly buzzed about reemergence of original Norma Jean singer Josh Scogin has since become a behemoth of its own distinction. Two years of touring behind the raw, unhinged and powerful bombast off Everything is Alive, Everything is Breathing, Nothing is Dead, Nothing is Bleeding and the follow-up EP, Unsung, have cemented the Southern quartet?s place in the modern metal landscape.
?The next record will definitely define who The Chariot is,? Scogin says matter-of-factly about their forthcoming sophomore album. ?I love the previous record but it does not define us. I feel like the vision for The Chariot has never been able to be achieved until now.?

Reviews - What do our customers think?
better than Everything is alive~  May 21, 2009
the sound quality is higher, louder, and this definately is different than the previous release from the band. which i didn't care much for the album Everything is alive~ blah blah, long title for their last album, but anyway, the feedback seemed more or less accidental in that one, and was more annoying than actual useful. so i'm glad they changed how they did for The Fiancee, it finally seems like its further marking itself as unique, cuz aside from the excessive feedback on the previous release, i compared Everything is alive~ to early Norma jean's music.

but pointless blabber aside, this album is primary good due to high musicianship and a very intense vocal performance by Josh.
also, the heaviness is relaxed a few times on the album with some sort of audio sampling? i don't know, i remember hearing a harmonica at the end of either track 3 or 4 ^.-
then there's like some sort of church choir on the last track The Trumpet ^.-
very cute, makes it unique as an album, although a bit odd.

bottom line, if you liked Josh in Norma jean, and/or both while in The Chariot, either way, this is then an album you would want.

but to be specific, this does not sound like Bless the martyr, but Josh doesn't sound all that different ;p
A Poignant Exercise in Artistic Brutality  Oct 11, 2008
Chaotic. Inspired. Dissonant. Spiritual. Heavy. Dopamine for the ears. All of these things describe "The Chariot" to a T with their latest release "The Fiancee." Keeping it real, unashamedly Christian and about as heavy and experimental as music gets, "The Chariot" outdoes themselves with the most artistically tasty and pleasing hardcore album I've heard since Underoath's latest offerings. If you like the more hardcore side of things (less metal, more dissonant techno/modern leanings) this is an album you will not only need to buy, but you will listen to until your ears bleed.

Highly recommended.
This album is not only completely clean, it's flat reverent and worshipful. If you like Christian content in your music (no matter how brutal) this is a must listen.
An Agressive Album that Packs Brass Knuckle Punches  Jul 6, 2008
I was so suprised when I stumbled upon "The Chariot" as the video for "They Drew Their Swords" was avaiable from Comcast Music Video on Demand. When I saw the video, I thought, what a different type of concept these guys are bringing to the table. Its almost like going back in time with the feel of Grundge, but 100x more Agressive. I didnt think I was going to like the album as much as I did, and I think that "The Chariot" should get props for doing something a bit diffrent in the music world. This isnt real complicated stuff, alot of distorted guitar, and agressive drumming (even hear a little bit of double bass thrown in)with some absolutly angry as hell vocals. I love it! Its like a combination of 90's Grunge, Metalcore, Garage Rock, and some elements of Death/Thrash Metal, all rolled up into one. Is it perfect, no, but its a helluva an effort, and even though its a bit on the short side, I think that you will like this album if you are a fan of any type of extreme music.
It's pure Southern Rock 'n Roll.  May 4, 2008
The Fiancee arrived in the mail a few days after I ordered it using a gift card for my 18th birthday. My expectations were rather high. I was an avid listener of Everything is Alive, Everything is Breathing, Nothing is Dead and Nothing is Bleeding and I highly enjoyed the Unsung EP. Before these two albums I was a big fan of Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child. So my expectations for the album ran very high. After I had unwrapped the CD I turned it on. Instead of listening to the whole CD I listened to little bits of each song and selected some favorites. I was very disappointed with the fact that the album didn't have the raw intensity their first album had. It wasn't quite as chaotic either. Not to mention the drummer wasn't as creative as the drummer from their first album. So I scratched my head and put it on my self.

The next time I grabbed the album I did something different. I put the album into the CD player and I actually listened to the entire thing through. This time around I fully concentrated on the songs without any expectations. The first song hit me harder than a baseball bat. It pulled no punches. The second song came on. Oh my gosh . . . . . it was good. The third . . . fourth . . . . fifth . . . . . sixth . . . . . seventh. . . . eighth . . . . . ninth . . . . . . and tenth finishing with a hymn. Now my perspective of the album was entirely different. After listening to it I called it a perfect blend of punkcore and southerncore. It has a trend of having great southern influenced riffs blended faster paced strumming riffs that made me think of punk. But then I had a revelation. Ladies and Gentleman, I am being way too specific and not general enough. This is pure southern Rock 'n Roll folks. I don't know how, but southern rock just really works in describing the album. It is very creative and original, but at the same time every time I hear it it reminds me of old school southern rock created by some of the first pioneers in the rock 'n roll scene. Yet it maintains modern appeal and it's full of energy and passion.

After listening to the album a 2nd time it brought me back thirsty for more. I could understand most of the lyrics, but not all of them. I pulled out the album booklet and read the lyrics and looked at the art. This whole album was a piece of art. The artwork was fantastic. The names of all the songs form an eight-line poem with every two lines contradicting each other. The actual lyrics were gold. I love all the lyrics. Every time I read them I walk away being inspired and built up. That is not all, every time I listen to this album it just get better and better . . . . It is a classic.
pretty tasty  Mar 21, 2008
Well at first I was feeling a little "iffy" about this cd after first looking at the artwork and of course the name of it, but I gave it a chance, and I must say this album impressed me, song after song is pure chaotic unpredictable skull crushing punishment. After two listens so far I would say my favorite track is "Heard This Noise". This is my first time hearing The Chariot and I will probly start back tracking their releases and see what else they have to offer my ears.
