Item Description...
Once upon a time, conservatives were called the "silent majority." No more. The ascent of Talk Radio and rise of "fair and balanced" television and print reporting has at long last unleashed a flurry of conservative activism through the media aimed at recapturing the heart and soul of the country.

Who better to help spearhead this noble cause than Phil Kent, former president of Southeastern Legal Foundation and a new and rising crusader in the struggle against the corrupting and demoralizing influences of liberalism?

"Hillary Clinton described the conservative movement in America as a vast, right-wing conspiracy," Kent argues. "I prefer to call it a conspiracy of freedom."

The Dark Side of Liberalism: Unchaining the Truth lays bare the falsehoods and distorted messages of liberalism and exposes it for what it is---an outdated, negative, anti-American gospel that mockingly undermines the values that made this country great. Packed with passion and commonsense ideas, The Dark Side of Liberalism offers a fresh look at America's big ticket issues---race relations, political correctness, immigration, Hollywood, the media, the United Nations, the runaway court system, the war on terror, and Big Government's role in our lives.

A "call to arms" for commonsense Americans, The Dark Side of Liberalism is a must-read user's guide for arguing and winning the conservative cause for freedom. As a bonus, the book offers a number of clear and compelling tips on how conservatives can best get their message out in the media to sway others--something lacking in most "conservative" books.

"It is time for all Americans to step up to the plate," Kent notes. "The fate of our civilization, our way of life, hangs in the balance."

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Pretty good  Aug 4, 2004
I think Phil Kent is one of the very few people who finally said that "Islam is not a religion of peace" No kidding. Personally, i knew it long time ago-all you have to to is read the Koran where they tell you that all the "unbelivers" have to be killed(that's just for starters). Funny how the democrats ignore the fact that 90% of all the terrorist attacks are commited by Muslims. I'm all for freedom of religion but not if its followers kill innocent people, wear underwear full of plastic explosives to the supermarket and make women into slaves.
Been there done that.  Jun 15, 2004
It's important to know that I consider myself a moderate liberal (probably more liberal, less moderate)- so I generally tend to believe that rhetoric that based entirely on a defenseive point of view to be tedious and, in general, a waste of everyone's time. I enjoy reading intelligent, well-thought-out arguments made by conservitives, unfortunately, very few exist- and they certainly do not exist in this book.
Also, as anyone with a strong education will attest, conservatives tend not to be the brightest, and again, this book is no exception. Mr. Kent's book offers nothing new in terms of as he tries to shoot down liberal ideas about taxes, immigration and war. However, for anyone wanting to blindly, without doing much reserach on any real issues, become a "Jr. Conservative" this is the book for you. If you want to be able to read an ignorant summary of what the Republican party stands for so that you can sound uhm, smart (?) at conservative (yawn) coctail parties, than by all means, buy this book. Otherwise, save your money- pick up a copy of the Wall Street Journal- a conservative publication that is actually very insightful, and avoids sounding suspiciously like an informercial
Real mixed-bag mish-mash of editorials  May 15, 2004
The accomplished Mr. Kent has a book here that seems to clearly have been rushed to publication for some reason. While he makes a number of very good points within these pages, the writing is disorganized and herky-jerky, sometimes hard to put down and sometimes hard to pick up. I am a conservative and have certainly noted the dark side of liberalism, but in a few places Mr. Kent really has to stretch a point to get this across, which will win him no allies.

Fortunately, there is enough meat here to provide solid reasoning and solid evidence that the mean-spirited liberal elite in the U.S. have gotten out of control and, unfortunately, have indeed infiltrated our politics to the point that the American Communist party platforms of pre WWII look alarmingly similar to the liberal platform of our day.

As with any such publication, one must read with a critical eye to find what parts of this soup one can take away as one's own, and let the rest simmer until forgotten. Certainly worth a read, but doesn't make me stand and salute as often as I'd like.

Total gibberish  Oct 21, 2003
The rantings of a lunatic, so typical of the far right. Totally undocumented: backed up by nothing more than an overactive, paranoid imagination. Mr. Kent obviously knows few liberals and has read very little of the works of serious progressives. The folks who scarf up this kind of garbage - and you know who you are - will of course love it, as it reinforces all their existing prejudices and relieves them of the obligation to do anything with their mind except to reinforce their blind hatred of people who disagree with them.
Pithy and right on target  Aug 12, 2003
Phil Kent's legal mind is brilliantly at work in his dissection of the dark side of liberalism. There are certainly good people out there who happen to be liberal. Kent's book, however, focuses on the inherent problems with liberal beliefs. It is a good read and will confirm many people's beliefs on what is wrong with the left wing of the Democratic Party.
