Reviews - What do our customers think?
Excellent Resource  Nov 28, 2007
I think this is an excellent resource for music educators. I love this book, because it has a great story line, fun pictures, and a beautiful melody. This is one of my favorites. It can be used in a Kindergarten classroom, or a 5th grade class room and all students love it. Great for teaching the Dorian mode. Beautifully written and illustrated.
Help your child's music aptitude develop  Sep 12, 2007
This is a great book for helping children develop their music aptitude. The song is in dorian mode (not major or minor). It's important for young children to be exposed to other modes so they can know what major and minor are NOT, thereby understanding them better and improving their tonal aptitude. The story/song features a repetitive sing-along refrain. Because the book includes a CD, even those without music-reading ability can learn to sing this story. The CD includes a performance of the entire song and then a second performance where the refrain is hummed so that "you" can sing along. My one complaint is that a few of the chords on the CD don't fit in the tonality correctly. But if you just use the CD to learn the melody and then sing it without the CD, it's a great book!
