Overview
G.K. Chesterton Throughout his life, Gilbert Chesterton always had a propensity for throwing his genius around. As a result of this tendency, Chesterton penned articles, essays, stories, and poems for so many periodicals that it was almost impossible to keep track of them. In this volume, Dr. Denis J. Conlon, Professor of English Literature at the University of Antwerp, has compiled Chesterton's short stories--some of which have never appeared in print. Many stories will be new to Chesterton fans because they were originally published in England and never appeared in U.S. editions, and others published in the U.S. remain unknown on the other side of the Atlantic. Dr. Conlon also includes the lost Father Brown stories, "Fr. Brown and the Donnington Affair" and "The Mask of Midas". There are 43 short stories here, along with a selection of 25 complete and incomplete tales from

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Chestertoniana  Dec 7, 2007
If you're like me, you'll admit Chesterton did occasionally make a mistake, and even some howlers, but he never did any poor work. Since I'm biased, I took a star off the review, but that may not be fair.

Most of this book is new to me. Some of the detective stories have been printed elsewhere, but not all. There are a couple of Father Brown stories that were probably held back by Chesterton because they weren't strong enough. There are incomplete stories, and many more completed ones. If you don't like G.K.Chesterton, I can make no promises. But if you find that, as he wrote of Dickens, his stories are simply lengths of fabric cut from a substance called Chesterton, you'll probably find a lot to like.

Quality book  Aug 19, 2005
This is a good quality, well-put-together book that brings into one place much of Chesterton's short fiction, most of which was published in periodicals or never published. This is the first time most of these stories have been published in book form, if I'm not mistaken.
