More About John B. Hayes

Register your artisan biography and upload your photo! JOHN B. HAYES has had a lifelong interest in the needs of the poor. He and his wife, Deanna, are general directors of InnerCHANGE, a mission order which works among the poor in five countries, sharing the good news in words and works through personal relationships. In the summer of 1984, he relocated his family to the poorest, most overcrowded street in Orange County at the time. He was determined to launch a holistic ministry that establishes its personnel in the inner city to minister inside-out. The Hayeses and their two daughters, Savannah and Alexandra, later moved to the inner city of San Francisco and will soon relocate to one of the poorest neighborhoods in London, England. John graduated from Princeton and received his master's in International Relations from Yale.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
give it a try!  Mar 14, 2007
I just got my copy of Submerge and I am really enjoying reading it!

An honest look at places most unseen.  Feb 24, 2007
John and the Innerchange team do a great job of sharing story and insight to the worlds poor. Looking clearly through the lives of people committed to those most overlooked, John's writing compels us to look closely at the world around us while also looking within.

One of the few books about incarnational mission  Feb 12, 2007
Even though this is a book primarily concerned about mission among the poor, there is so much to learn here about mission in general...particularly the nature of incarnational engagement in any context. John Hayes is the dude. There is no doubt.

Submerge Rises to the Challenge  Feb 6, 2007
I have been a part of InnerCHANGE for almost 2 years now, and this book still struck me as fresh and challenging when I read it. It made me want to join InnerCHANGE all over again!

I recommend this book to youth who are thinking about life directions such as college/mission. I recommend it to college students, and especially recent grads who are looking for a meaningful and prophetic way to engage in the world. I recommend it for seasoned adults in all walks of life who want to hear afresh God's call to create/join a community and pour it out into the cracks and crevices of the world's societies.

Inspiring  Jan 25, 2007
Excellent book! The author writes like a painter, taking the reader through a gallery of real-life experiences that will challenge and inspire people to live differently.
