Item Description...
Product Description Philip Yancey believes we are missing the supernatural hidden in everyday life. In A Skeptic's Guide to Faith, previously titled Rumors of Another World, Yancey investigates the natural world and discovers the supernatural hiding in plain view. Nature and super nature are not two separate worlds, but different expressions of the same reality. To encounter the world as a whole, we need a more supernatural awareness of the natural world. He promises that the grace-filled result will be a life of beauty, purpose, freedom, and faith.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | This book is a "Bate and Switch Scam" Jan 7, 2010 |
| This makes me feel better after reading other reviews! I thought that I was the only fool to buy the same book twice: Romours and A Skeptic's Guilde to Faith are the same book with very minor changes. I encourage all Yancey fans to write Zondervan and protest. That is exactly what I plan to do as soon as I finish this. By the way there is one change, Chapter two's title was changed from "Rumours" to "A Tug between Two Worlds". I guess this makes it "OK" since it is not a totally repackage job. I call this this the "Bate and Switch" technique. A lot of con artist use it. Zondervan now fall into that catagory. | | | | Great book...but not a new book from Yancey Nov 20, 2009 |
This is just "Rumors of Another World" with a new title and cover....great author, great book. But I've already read and already own "Rumors of Another World"...didn't really want another copy.

It's always a joy to read one of Philip Yancey's books.
While there were some incredibly good pages of enlightenment, it did take some time to get acclimated to its many transitions. The beginning chapters I felt were a bit choppy. But, once I hit that really good wave, I rode it out. It was well worth the wait lasting to the very shore.
Yancey writes so eloquently of the "dual- citizenship" life of the believing Christian; living in both the seen and unseen world... the place where we abide when living in faith.
When looking at our world in these times of suffering and injustice, I have to remind myself that this is not heaven, but earth; an imperfect earth.
The chapter on the elephant man stands out as one of which could be read over and over again. Beautiful and an example of how Yancey explains the unseen.
FYI, this book was previously titled "Rumors of Another World." | | | | Shameless Repackaging Sep 30, 2009 |
Philip Yancey is one of just a few authors whose books I will buy and read on the reputation and skill of the author alone. When I found "A Skeptics Guide to Faith," I was delighted to find this "new" title. While reading through the description, I noticed the book had originally been released earlier, and assumed I had just missed it the first time around. When it arrived, however, in SMALL print on the cover was the statement, "Previously Titled 'Rumors of Another World'," a fact I have yet to find anywhere on the product description page.
I already own, and have read "Rumors of Another World," and frankly, enjoyed it. I did not enjoy it enough, however, to buy another copy under another name. I am disappointed by what seems to be simply a case of Shameless Repackaging. If you are looking for a new work by Philip Yancey, please be aware, this is not it. | | | Write your own review about Skeptics Guide To Faith
