 | Great for Young Adults Feb 16, 2008 |
| This was a nice, well-written novel, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I feel that this book was written more for the young adult than for the more mature reader (I'm 71). The storyline wasn't your standard for a Christian novel, but it was intriguing. I've passed this book onto my twenty-one year-old granddaughter because I'm sure she'll love it. I highly recommend it for this age group....or if you are older and young at heart! | | | | Enjoyed Feb 13, 2008 |
| Had been disappointed in recent books, but found Sabrina refreshing. It took me back to some of Lori Wick's original works that I loved so much. Enjoyed the story line and plot. The only thing that I found odd was the ending and wished that a few of loose threads would have been finished. It seems like the ending could be the beginning for a new story! | | | | Reading this book is time well spent Jan 29, 2008 |
Big Sky Dreams is Wick's newest series, and quite frankly, I really didn't like the first book of the series, Cassidy. It took me 70 pages to really get into the story and understand who the characters were and what was going on. Cassidy was in great need of editing.
Not so with Sabrina.
Consider the opening sentence: "The sun was setting fast as a crowd gathered around the dead body that lay in the street."
Uh, Hello! That's definitely an attention grabber.
The book--from cover to cover--is well-written. It's respectful. It's honest. It shows character growth. It teaches truths. (In another book I'm reading right now for professional development, it talks about the difference between "true stories" and "truth stories.") The story is there for you to read and enjoy--and learn from.
Here's what I learned as a result of reading this book:
I am blessed with the life and circumstances God gave me. I do not have to purposely put myself in danger to share my faith, but can live a life of faith on a daily basis so those I come in contact with know who I am and what I stand for. (But neither do I need to get too comfortable in my "normal" circles.) My life experiences matter because it helps me to identify with other people who have similar life experiences. This helps me to be a better friend and witness.
Reading this book was time well spent. | | | | angietbmommaof4 Jan 28, 2008 |
| I am a huge fan of Lori Wick. I enjoy her series books because you get to continue in the lives of characters that you fell in love with in previous books as well as meeting new ones. This is an excellent book and as with all of her books, it has a strong spiritual "lesson" that the character learns. Her best book yet has been Pretense (I read it in two days), but this is good reading for a weekend. | | | | Big Improvement! Jan 22, 2008 |
| I'm a huge Lori Wick fan that has been discouraged with her last several books. I almost didn't buy Sabrina because I was so disappointed with Cassidy and had to make myself finish it. I'm glad I decided to buy it because I saw a little of Lori's original style coming back. There wasn't as much meaningless small talk and more chemistry between the main characters. I still prefer reading the Californians series and Kennsington Chronlicles but I'm hoping this is a sign of better things to come from Lori! | | | Write your own review about Sabrina (Big Sky Dreams, Book 2)
