Item Description...
Rightly Dividing? is the Second Season of Our Father's Evangelical Church. The First Season was Brad Brown's compelling novel, This Is The Church... In Rightly Dividing?, Our Father's Evangelical Church, nestled in the quaint, fictional, Southern California town of Monument, undergoes yet another pastoral transition with the arrival of Tony Meece from San Antonio, Texas, who ushers in a whole host of hot-button issues that the congregation must grapple with for the next three years. Ian Block writes once more of his adventures at "O.F.E.," as he and the church deal with raising teenagers, attending public or private schools, hymns versus choruses, the role of women, Christians and alcohol, whether Jesus would have been a Democrat or a Republican, and the final authority of Scripture, with often hilarious and heart-wrenching results. Rightly Dividing? deals head-on with the issues that constantly seek to rock and divide the present-day local church. It also paints a profound portrait of the almighty power of the Body of Christ when its members pull together and function as they should. You may not look at your church or the Bible in the same way again after you read Rightly Dividing?

The Second Book to a Great Series...  Aug 19, 2006
I have read all 3 of Mr. Brown's Novels, he is a close friend of the family, and we are all very proud of what he has accomplished, and how he has grown as an author. Keep up the good work Brad. I recommend this book to any and everyone, enjoy!!

Hits the Nail on the Head!  Feb 9, 2006
This is not just a dead-on accurate novel about a church undergoing the difficulties of a change in pastoral leadership, it also compellingly continues the story of the Block family that Mr. Brown began in his first book, This is the Church. Having been very involved in a church eerily similar to the one Mr. Brown describes, I was experiencing "flashbacks" to my own experience with almost every turn of the page of this new book. Lest you think this is some dry treatise about the perils of a new pastor, think again. The challenges faced by both the Block family and the church are not only arduous but even heart-wrenching at times, making this book a must-read by anyone who has ever a)been a member of a local church; and b) anyone who has raised, is raising, or is going to raise teen-agers.
Author's Review  May 15, 2004
What are some of the issues that divide the present-day, local church? I have addressed many of them in "Rightly Dividing?", the sequel to my first novel, "This Is The Church...". Issues such as hymns versus choruses, the role of women, Christians and alcohol, and the final authority of Scripture versus "bibliolatry."
The congregation at Our Father's Evangelical Church in Monument, California get to deal with a good dose of pew-splitting subjects in this, their Second Season. There is no more powerful force on earth than a unified local church under the headship of Jesus Christ. To that end "Rightly Dividing?" is a humorous and thought-provoking wake-up call.
I am currently working on the Third Season, "Upon This Rock."
