Item Description...
Repentance is all about the Greek word "metanoia": meta or "after", and noia or "mindset, worldview, paradigm or philosophy of life". Together, meta-noia means "an altered worldview, a re-oriented philosophy of life, a mental revolution, a cosmic paradigm shift".

After considering such a definition, one might ask, "Whatever happened to repentance in the church today?" Anton shows us that there are two big reasons why the church tends to relegate repentance to the dusty corners of archaic dogma: (1) it doesn't understand or, much worse, (2) it does understand, but the understanding doesn't fit its "positioning". As a former marketer for Coca-Cola turned minister, he examines the startling similarities between consumer marketing strategies and churches' evangelism methods.

Fresh insights on the true meaning of repentance will bring this book into your heart and bring about a cosmic shift toward God and his view of life.

Publishers Description
Ed Anton's new book, Repentance, really gets to the heart of what repentance really is. The author is convinced that many want to live repentant lives, but not everyone understands how to do so. Giving in-depth biblical and historical background on this all-important topic, he helps the reader know how.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Edward Anton has done the church at large a great service with this book. Unfortunately, the church just doesn't know it. This book really opened my eyes even more to the reality of repentance for my own life and why perhaps the church at large has not impacted the world like they did in it's early conception. This book is theological in it's approach yet readable and compassionate in style. Anton traces the root meanings of the word and how bad translations created a works based mentality throughout the church until the mid 1600's, doing penance as it was known until the reformation began to bring the word back to the biblical meaning of what God does for us and in us through Christ and our total reliance on that. I recommend this book for all that want to live in the truth of "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand". This is the kind of book that the Christian bookstores may have one copy buried in the back while several copies of feel good and watered down titles are displayed in abundance to a church that desperately needs to hear this message. Read this book slowly and take it to heart.
Should be required reading  Jun 20, 2006
Repentance is a subject that is pretty much taboo in the evangelical church today. It's something people don't even like to discuss, much less practice. There are very few preachers who are willing to tackle this difficult and often confusing subject. But I believe that a preacher who is truly committed to teaching Scripture MUST preach repentance. Like it or not, Repentance is a key theme in Scripture and a key part of the Gospel. I have to admit, I have struggled to understand repentance and have found much of the teaching on the subject sorely lacking. When I saw this book, at first, I was tempted to not buy it. After all, I thought it would be the same old stuff I've always heard. This book not only gives a through, Biblical description of what repentance is, it also gives a lot of practical advice on how to practice it. Anton is willing to ask the hard questions. I was very convicted and challenged by this book. I think this book should be given to everyone who calls themself a Christian. I think this book would be especially valuable for new Christians. But I think even older, more mature Christians would benefit greatly from this book.

If anyone is looking for more information (and a different perspective) on repentance, I highly recommend "Revival's Golden Key" and "The Way of the Master" both by Ray Comfort. I also highly recommend "Hard to Believe" and "Ashamed of the Gospel" by John MacArthur. Both describe repentance and its necessity in detail. I have read all of the above books and they are all solidly biblical. In fact, I have reviewed them on this site.

This book also serves as an excellent critique of the "seeker sensitive" movement that is sweeping through evangelicalism today with alarming speed. I thank God that someone has FINALLY had the courage to write a book like this on repentance. I am so glad I decided to read this book.

The truth is out  Apr 19, 2006
What a refreshing perspective on repentance. Metanoia was kept from us for so many years. How many died trient to bring the truth to us. Finally here it is for all to read.
A great read, informative and obviously written by and enlightened and inspired author.
