Jonas Clark was born on Christmas day, marking his life in obedience to Jesus Christ. He had six sons and six daughters, all but four living at the time of his death. Four of the daughters married clergymen. Rev. Clark graduated from Cambridge in 1752 and was ordained in Lexington three years later. In addition to being a fulltime clergyman, he was an industrious, hard-working farmer. He cultivated sixty acres of land, which he still owned at the end of his life.

As the pastor of the church at Lexington, he typically gave four sermons a week, written out and orally presented nearly 2200 sermons in his lifetime. His preaching was vigorous in style, animated in manner, instructive in matter, and delivered with uncommon energy and zeal, with an agreeable and powerful voice. His sermons were rarely less than an hour, often more, and in theological opinions he was considered amongst the Trinitarians and Calvinists. The spirit and temper of his life were just what the Gospel was designed to produce. He was a Christian in the highest and best sense of the term, shown to be such by a long and exemplary life and a faithful practice of the virtues he had preached to others. He was considered a patriot of the most ardent and decided character. In addition to all this, he witnessed the first outbreak of the War for Independence at Lexington.

Jonas Clark lived in Fort Lauderdale Fort Lauderd. Jonas Clark was born in 1730 and died in 1805.

Seek Help From Others & Guidance From God.  Sep 1, 2006
Being rejected is tough, especially for the impressionable youth. Because of the way you look, perhaps, or talk, some snobs look down on you and cause you to feel inferior. Nobody is inferior in God's eyes. We all have potential to master our fears and overcome setbacks along the way of life, and there will be many of them. When a dumb person criticizes for no reason, you can just bet they are envious and lashing out because you have more knowledge, know-how, and common sense than they. In the movie I can't name, as both music and storyline were rejected, one person made all the difference in the lives of many. Because he could not get into a prominent school, so as not to disappoint demanding parents, he seeks the help of a computer whiz friend to create something which ballooned out of proportion but it proved that he was not the only one in that situation. My son was not accepted at two of his choices and he had his heart set on being among the super intelligent. He'd been creative since the age of four, creating art and plays of events even the most intelligent adult could not do; he had to spell phonetically as he was not in school yet. And yet he received more than one rejection.

Did that keep him from being successful in life? Only a little stop sign to regroup. He went to three colleges before getting his M.A. at UA-H and his first teaching job was at a prestigious university for five years while his wife was getting her PhD at another prestigious university in the same town. He didn't have it easy like his older sibling who went away to one of his big choices, but success for him took a lot longer, ten years in fact. It is not always easy to be accepted in many situations. I did not push for anything. In fact, I met my fate at the college I had never heard of and thought I was on my way to another of the same name. It's not always the best for us to go the easy route. God has a plan for everyone, and he works in his own time and way for the good of all.

Being rejected is hurtful, but so is life; being accepted is fine as long as you are happy. The group at South Harmon were free to learn the way they needed, not in the structured way of a larger school, but in the experimental type of education prevalent in the sixties and seventies. What goes around comes around. We need innovation to succeed as we travel life's highways and byways. The shady road is much easier to drive than that in full sunshine and glare; there is a more relaxed feeling in traveling the road least traveled and find treasures along the way. I recommend it to those who criticize other unjustly. It will make a marked difference in their cynicism and critical attitudes toward the less advanced. The poor will not always be poor, and then just watch what they can accomplish.
This Book May Change Your Life  Nov 12, 2002
The author says that "rejection is one of the most prevalent hinderances of spiritual maturity in the body of Christ". The author provides a concise, easy-to-read, easy-to-understand discussion of the underlying causes of rejection, sources of rejection, and the impact of rejection on people's lives. He also provides extensive scriptural references, showing how "applying the knowledge of the word of God in your life" can help you to overcome feelings of rejection.
