Reviews - What do our customers think?
a masterpiece  Feb 20, 2007
simply said. this record goes a step beyond their previous two and puts the nail in the coffin. a great great record. cory brandon's singing has improved big time compared to wut he did on "oh god, the aftermath". its way smoother and more accessible to the ears if u ask me. so yeah, anybody with a brain should buy this cd cus it WILL overcome and dominate ur fall out boy cd(if u really did, then u just flat out suck and need to re-think ur life) u decided to purchase last week, haha...and thats guaranteed. please support good bands and not these under-talented and over produced bands like FOB and Hawthorne Heights, cus they're just terrible and its a shame that they have such a huge following...its real sad. heres a hint, turn off ur computer, go get ready and put on ur mc hammer pants and go to best buy, target, circuit city, whatever and swipe ur visa to get this sucka cus it rules aight?? peace snout.
some of Norma Jeans best work  Feb 15, 2007

Norma Jean's Comeback  Jan 1, 2007
First off I'm actually 17 but it's more conveinent to be a kid for the purposes of this review. The first Norma Jean album, as most of us know, is a legendary piece of art containing manic drums and deep heavy guitar with some of the fiercest vocals ever heard. Doesn't quite crack my top 10 (Orchid, Converge, Botch and Forsetlla Ford have that list secured) but easily my top 25 favorites. Now the second Norma Jean album just sounded like a horrible attempt to rip off Botch. Some parts were good, but overall it just didn't do it for me. I'd give it maybe a 3 and that would be generous. This cd however amazed me. It reminds me of botch with a bit more melody. The vocals range from very deep and brutal to melodic, the lyrics are preety good (not the best but not bad by any means) and there are some very impressive songs on there (my favorites are amnesty please and songs sound much sadder). So in short: Hail the queen, Norma Jean.
Awesome  Dec 30, 2006
Norma Jean is a band, for some reason, I have always wanted to like. I've always heard elements in their sound that I hoped might "Blossom" as they matured. "Oh God, the Aftermath," I thought was complete rubbish as was the release before it. However, I gave this new one a go and was thoroughly impressed. The songs are actually very catchy. Whereas on the first two cds you could see blatantly which bands they were ripping-off, on this release they've used their influences to create a more unique sound. If I had to make comparissons, I'd say at times it sounds like Quicksand (Which surprised me), old Ressurrection, Glassjaw, and old Cave-in. Song two really stood out to me, so if you're sampling what their music sounds like give that one a listen. Overall, a pretty tight cd.
Redeemer Will Melt Your Face Off  Dec 1, 2006
I don't just hand out 5 stars to any album. "Redeemer" is a truly incredible album. The thing that stands out the most would be Cory's vocals. They are much more mature than in O God. I think he kind of had to step it up after people were comparing him to Josh in "Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child." Josh was an amazing vocalist, but in "Redeemer," Cory showed everyone what he's got.

The drums are also very good. Daniel is incredibly talented. The guitars really deliver, and the bass was outstanding.

The album starts off incredibly with "A Grand Scene for a Color Film," an pretty hard song, and then goes to "Blueprints for Future Homes," which is a bit more melodic. The next three, "A Small Spark vs. A Great Forest," "A Tempramental Widower," and "The End of All Things Will be Televised" are extraordinary. "Songs Sound Much Sadder" has a beautiful melodic chorus. The rest are also very good, but just don't grab my attention as much as the first six.

Norma Jean has definitely delivered with "Redeemer," bringing Christian metal/hardcore fans an album that really kicks some serious butt.
