Item Description...
On the outside, the Bishop sisters appear as different as sisters can be: Mackenzie is a mahogany-haired beauty, who has inherited the determined nature of her Army officer father. Her infectious sense of humor and rare gift of imagination are often hidden by a reserved manner. Radiant, blond Delaney views the world through an artist's eyes, drawing what she sees with wide sweeps of emotion. Her charming and trusting personality easily wins friends and admirers, but also leaves her sensitive heart vulnerable to hurt. Unexpected difficulties threaten their world, which will either bring them together or tear them apart. A moving story of the tender bond of sisterhood, and God's promise of redemption for those who seek Him.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Pretense - the best!!!!  Jan 6, 2007
Lori Wick has outdone herself with this one. A poignant story of two sisters and their journey of growing up. Pretense has enough story to be entertaining, enough lovable characters to be interesting, and enough Christian values to be compelling.

If you had to pick one novel with which to be stranded on an island, this would be the one!
One of my favorites  Jul 5, 2006
I highly recommend this book. It is one of my favorites. I have read it at least three times and enjoyed it every time. I was so captivated by the story that at the end I wanted to know more about these sisters and what was in store for them. I did think that their lives were a bit over the top, but it certainly kept me interested to the very end.

A little bit boring  Mar 25, 2006
I read this book several years ago, and although I generally love to read and love Christian fiction, this was one book I had a hard time getting through. It really didn't have much of a plot, and the book dragged on and on. It doesn't seem very realistic; Delancey and MacKenzie have their professional lives set by the time they're twenty. Delancey and MacKenzie didn't seem to be very well developed characters to me. But this is the first book I read by Lori Wick, so I would be willing to read something else by her.
A Good Addition to Lori Wick's Dynasty.  Oct 11, 2005
Being an avid reader of Lori Wick, I knew that this one would not become another face in the crowd. The story of two young, talented, but lost girls was a grand slam and a good addition to Wick's dynasty. I cried and laughed and enjoyed this book thoroughly. Like the other reviews, I will admit she did make some parts a little familiar like how both girls got their man, but the length was not a problem. It only took me about 5 hours to complete. It was a little dull in the beginning but Wick captured my heart again.I would reccommend this book to any reader who is fascinated by love.
Yes, a Tad Too Long(some spoilers)  Sep 12, 2005
But i love everything i've read by Lori Wick. This book is 702 pages, so when you read it, be prepared.

The first half of the book is really more about their mother and father's struggle for Christ. The father is dead before the book hits 200 pages, so that's not too big a spoiler. His death seemed rather abrupt, and i've experienced the sudden lose of a parent. I just feel Paul and Marrell should have had their own book, about their early courtship, or at the very least, the early part of their marriage. They are such great characters, they deserved it. Ahh well.

Marrell's forced into getting a job for the sake of her children, but finds love again. It's obvious to me who, but i won't say.

The girls really don't take center stage until the middle of the book or later. You get to seem them grow from children, to grown women with minds of their own, and an unwillingness to have anytthing to do with God. Thats different then any other Lori Wick book i've read, and why i give this book 4 stars. It does lag a bit at tmes, but it's worth the read. It's a nice escape.
