Item Description...
Join Christian and his companions on their journey to the Celestial City, as they pass through many experiences common to us all, in Bunyan's timeless allegory of the Christian's walk with God.

This classic story helps show the journey from destruction to salvation. Along the way various trials and tribulations are encountered by Christian, and each one symbolizes a temptation or failure that we in the physical world are prone to encounter.

The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan and published in February, 1678. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of religious English literature,[1] has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.

This book makes a great gift for anyone new to Christian Fiction, and looking for solid Biblical teaching that is also entertaining. The fictional narrative helps relate the themes and topics of the Bible in ways that illustrate the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Publishers Description
This is not a devotional classic; it is a dangerous tale. It is a call to the high stakes of every Christian's journey. Don't pick it up expecting quaint amusement--it is a story woven through with undeniable truth, great cost, and overwhelming joy.
One of the most widely read books of all time, this adventure reveals John Bunyan's intense grasp of the Scriptures. Penned while in prison for refusing to compromise the gospel, "The Pilgrim's Progress" is a guide for the journey from death to life. The times have changed, but the landmarks and adversaries are very much the same.
"Moody Classics"
Of all the factors influencing our spiritual growth and development, pivotal books play a key role. Learning from those who have walked the path and fought the fight brings wisdom and strengthens resolve. And hearing the familiar chords of kingdom living sung by voices from other times can penetrate cultural barriers that limit our allegiance to the King. To this end, Moody Publishers is honored to introduce the first six volumes in what is to be an ongoing series of spiritual classics. Selected for their enduring influence and timeless perspective, these new editions promise to shape the lives of spiritual pilgrims for generations to come.

More About John Bunyan

John Bunyan John Bunyan (1628 1688) was born in Elstow, England, and his life was spared twice in his early years, something he believed God had done for a special purpose.

John Bunyan was an English Christian writer and preacher who is best known for his allegorical novel The Pilgrim' s Progress, published in 1678. Bunyan' s faith was profoundly influenced by two books owned by his wife: Arthur Dent's Plain Man's Pathway to Heaven and Lewis Bayly's Practice of Piety, and he turned to preaching following the death of his guide and mentor, John Gifford.

In November 1660, when Bunyan arrived to preach in the little town of Lower Samsell, he was informed that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Unwilling to denounce his Christian faith and his calling to the ministry, he was imprisoned for twelve years. Among the many writings he published during his imprisonment are The Holy City, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners, and the most famous, The Pilgrim's Progress.

After his release, he continued to write and publish stirring works that have endured through time. Among these classics are The Holy War, Visions of Heaven and Hell, and Journey to Hell: The Life and Death of Mr. Badman.
