Item Description...
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."--Ephesians 4:3

Friends let you down. A romance turns sour. Children rebel. A church is divided. You feel like you don't measure up. Is there really hope for living at peace?

Yes! Peacemaking Women offers a meaningful, lasting message to lead you out of conflict and into a state of peace where you can live as a representative of Christ to other women as well as to unbelievers. With personal stories and advice that is firmly rooted in Scripture, the authors guide you to peace with God, peaceful relationships with others, and genuine peace within.

Publishers Description
Women have a strong desire for relational connections. Relationships between women can be especially enriching, but when conflict arises, they also can be especially damaging. Too many women approach conflict as if they were unbelievers-with gossip, spiteful actions, bitterness, and even hatred.
In "Peacemaking Women," Tara Klena Barthel and Judy Dabler offer a meaningful, lasting message to lead women out of conflict to a state of peace where they can live as representatives of Christ to one another and well as unbelievers. With advice that is firmly rooted in Scripture, the authors bring sound, practical help for women who want to know what the Bible says about conflict resolution and how to achieve peace in their relationships with God, self, and others.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Awesome reading and study material for Today's Woman!  Feb 26, 2007
I was introduced to this book by a close friend at a very difficult time in my life. The book is filled with biblically based principles that are so enlightening. The thought provoking words of this book have opened my heart to really examine the "root of the conflict." And the answers to those questions I have found may not be what you first think.
I was so inspired by the content of this book and Tara's cd set, that I am presently leading my second bible study group based on this book and other material from Peacemaker Ministries. All who have participated were equally impressed with the biblical perspective to peacemaking presented in this material. I definitely recommended this book for personal as well as group study. The principles are helpful for all stages of life.
Hope for Resolving Conflict  Feb 17, 2007
This is a great book both for personal reading and growth and for a group study. It is very Biblical with most of the scripture written out (meaning that I actually get all of it read!) The questions at the end of each chapter are not superficial but force you to look into your own heart rather than just lightly answer a question.
There are many strengths to this book. It has two authors from different perspectives--a lawyer and a counselor. I'm sure it didn't make for an easy time in writing the book, but the outcome is probably much better than if either one individually had written it. Their open, vulnerable sharing throughout the book brings an honesty not often found in christian books. I found it quite refreshing. One of my serendipitous chapters was "Female Leaders with Powerful Personalities". I enjoyed reading that both from the perspective of someone with a strong personality AND from the perspective of a pastor's wife who has served in a variety of settings and seen more than one female leader who caused a lot of disruption in the church. I wish I had seen some of that information and perspective in writing long before now.
The heart of the book is dealing with God and who He is, our idolatrous hearts and biblical peacemaking (with one another). How it works out in suffering, romantic love, families, the Church, and dealing with personal shame, depression or fear. The book moves along pretty well without getting bogged down despite the heavy topics. The many personal illustrations, clear explanations, and different than usual ways of explaining some of the topics kept my attention well.
The final ingredient in the book that I found very helpful was the bibliography at the end of each chapter. I often find in books on a variety of topics that I would like to read a little more in certain areas but don't have any idea where to go. This was particularly helpful and I came across some unexpected authors.
You won't regret reading this book and will be glad you bought it because the concepts found in it are counter-intuitive. They won't come easily and you will need to refer back for help as you start to put them into practice.
Life-Changing Book  Feb 16, 2007
This book is truly the best resource for resolving conflict through the Gospel of God's grace. I cried while reading nearly every chapter, as God revealed ways in which I had sinned and contributed to a particular conflict in my own life. I have given this book to several friends, and it's been a tremendous blessing to them, as well. I highly recommend this book to all who desire to be peacemaking women!
A Fantastic Resource for Churches and Families  Feb 15, 2007
Tara and Judy have written an honest, grace-filled and God-centered book about the richness and necessity of peace. At the heart of the matter is that while we all experience conflict, whether intentional or unintentional, we don't easily reflect on the peace God has granted to those whom He adopts into His family, and how that is the source of any peace we can pass on to others. By focusing on the saving and restorative work of Jesus Christ, this book provides much more than just a "jump-through-the-hoops" exercise in peacemaking and encourages hope. Our church chose to use this book for a womens' study over the summer and found enough interest to warrant a follow-up class in the fall. This is truly applicable to women of all ages and life situations.
Hits right at the heart of where women are today  Nov 2, 2006
Excellent resource to grow closer in your walk with the Lord - and with sisters and brothers in Christ. Solid foundation. Pertinent issues. Real living. All pointing to a way of living that shows others the love of Christ. Not only do I own my own copy, but I have given other copies away. Women of every age and situation would benefit greatly from understanding our God of Peace.
