More About Sheila Walsh

Sheila Walsh Sheila Walsh is a powerful Bible teacher and best-selling author from Scotland with over 4 million books sold. A featured speaker with Women of Faith® conferences, she has reached more than 5 million women by combining honesty, vulnerability, and humor with God's Word. Her passion to see women's lives transformed by the power of God's word is contagious. Currently completing her Masters in Theology, Sheila lives in Frisco, Texas with her husband, Barry, her son, Christian, and her two little dogs, Belle and Tink.

Walsh began her career as a contemporary Christian singer after finishing college with studies in theology from London Bible College (now London School of Theology) in 1979 and music from the London Academy of Operatic Art.[1] Walsh worked as an evangelist with the British chapter of Youth For Christ and sang with a group known as "The Oasis" until going solo in 1981. She also worked closely at this time with keyboard player Chris Rolinson, who contributed extensively to the unique sound on her first "new wave" style album, Future Eyes. He also toured with her on her first United States tour, where she opened for Phil Keaggy.[1] As Walsh enjoyed some success both in the United Kingdom and America as a CCM musician, she was asked by minister Pat Robertson to serve as a co-host of his television talk-show, The 700 Club in 1987. Walsh served in this capacity into 1992 and also hosted her own talk-show, Heart to Heart with Sheila Walsh.

Ideological differences with Pat Robertson and general feelings of depression brought Walsh to re-examine her life's direction. After leaving Pat Robertson's enterprises in 1992 she sought therapy for her depression, eventually returning to college at Fuller Theological Seminary in California to take on doctoral studies in theology. Pat Robertson explained her departure from CBN as the result of a "nervous breakdown" brought on by the tremendous demands of her work with CBN. He asked his viewers to keep her in their prayers and ask God to give her the strength to continue doing His work.

She went on to write a book exploring her struggle with depression and her experiences with her faith as a Christian, entitled Honestly. While Walsh had written several books on theology before, this autobiography would become the wellspring of her later work on personal aspects of faith and would set the tone for her introspective, personal, but evangelical approach to affairs of modern theology.

Over the course of the latter 1990s, Walsh's work has concerned women's issues within the church and the unique relationship of the contemporary woman with God. She has written over seventeen books including Honestly, Living Fearlessly, and Life is Tough, but God is Faithful. She has also written several books for children recently. She also has continued her musical career as a songwriter and singer and has recorded several albums of new Christian music and traditional hymns arranged to a Celtic sound.

In 2005, Walsh partnered with Tommy Nelson publishers to create a line of children's books and DVDs called Gigi, God's Little Princess TM. The brand has become the #1 Christian Girl's brand and continues to be popular and releases new products. Walsh, with her family, is now an active attendee of Prestonwood Baptist Church, in Plano, Texas.

As of 2007, Walsh has appeared on many TV programs such as: Life Today, Hour of Power and The Rock Gospel Show (BBC) among many others. She was a member of the team "Women of Faith" on the second season of The American Bible Challenge on GSN.

Sheila Walsh currently resides in Nashville, in the state of Tennessee. Sheila Walsh was born in 1956.

Peace: A Celtic Christmas,  Jan 8, 2007
Sheila Walsh is a wonderful singer. if you like Enya you will enjoy Sheila she has a peaceful but powerful voice and this album is just great.
The songs just give me shivers when I here them she did a wonderful job in recording the album. the instrument are of a old period of time and so are the songs. Their are some traditional Christmas songs but for the most part the songs are different. I even think she wrote some of the songs. This is a great album for anybody who love Christmas music. She has a Choir and Orchestra joining here as well as some instrument that sound from the baroque age. Very well done. I would be nice if the record company would re-reissue this album.

Sincerely, Jason or Peter Pielak.
Peaceful, heavenly Christmas CD, but not really too Celtic  Mar 7, 2004
I'm a long time Sheila Walsh fan from back in the 1980's when she made a different style of Christian music then she does now. This CD is very peaceful, a heavenly Christmas CD, but not really very Celtic in flavor. The only Celtic song that I can recognize is "In The Bleak Midwinter." She is from Scotland, so it is Celtic in that way. That aside it is quite lovely and wonderful Christmas CD.
Great Christmas - Poor Celtic  Dec 29, 2003
This is indeed a wonderful Christmas album, however, if you are looking for a truly Celtic Christmas album, look elsewhere. The misleading title is about the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star, as I was a bit disappointed by the lack of Celtic music. Yes, there are the occassional "Celtic textures," but not nearly enough to qualify as a Celtic album. It is, in fact, an excellent traditional Christmas album. If you like Shelia Walsh and/or Christmas albums, you will probably like this album - as long as you know what you are getting.
More than a Christmas album  Nov 7, 2001
This album is incredible! It is far more than a Christmas album. I listen to it year round. It seems new and fresh with each hearing. In these times, it has a calming and uplifting effect on one's psyche. I highly recommend.
superb!  Mar 4, 2001
I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful CD. The production is top notch incorporating lush orchestrations and some year 2000 electronic touches. Sheila Walsh is a captivating singer and she communicates the true meaning of Christmas and her love for Christ very effectively throughout this CD. It is a CD that I will enjoy for years to come.
