Item Description...
An intensely personal chronicle of one's journey of faith furnishes an introduction to the biblical theology, spirituality, history, mission, and influence of Opus Dei, recalling the organization's role in the author's conversion from evangelical Christianity to Catholicism and its continuing influence on every aspect of his life and spiritual quest. 25,000 first printing.

Publishers Description
To conspiracy theorists, Opus Dei is a highly secretive and powerful international organization. To its members, however, Opus Dei is a spiritual path, a way of incorporating the teachings of Jesus into everyday life. In "Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace," Scott Hahn, a member of Opus Dei, describes the organization's founding, its mission, and its profound influence on his life.
Hahn recounts the invaluable part Opus Dei played in his conversion from Evangelical Christianity to Catholicism and explains why its teachings remain at the center of his life. Through stories about his job, his marriage, his role as a parent, and his community activities, Hahn shows how Opus Dei's spirituality enriches the meaning of daily tasks and transforms ordinary relationships. He offers inspiring insights for reconciling spiritual and material goals, discussing topics ranging from ambition, workaholism, friendship, and sex, to the place of prayer and sacrifice in Christianity today.
Engaging and enlightening, "Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace" is at once a moving personal story and an inspiring work of contemporary spirituality.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Pleased with the content  Feb 20, 2007
As a former Lutheran, this book was nothing new to me, and I wondered why it was such a new thing in the Catholic Church? Martin Luther wrote about this very thing in his writings on Christian vocation. Also, the Lutheran view of the Priesthood of all believers in light of the clergy (found in the Lutheran Book of Concord) is the same as presented in this book. So, don't get me wrong, I agree with much in this book and appreciate all that Opus Dei is doing for Catholics, but it is not something new, Martin Luther it seems already brought this up. Most of it can be found in studying Matthew 5-7, as Christians are called to pursue the Beatific Vision.
Excellent!  Jan 19, 2007
A great read and excellent book for all who are truly seeking to find God in thier daily life.Every home should have a copy of this book and it makes a great Father's day gift and just a great gift overall.
Many helpful insights  Jan 9, 2007
I really loved Scott Hahn's "Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace" because he offers many helpful insights...including the practical help of providing copies of various prayers (I copied them and keep them in my place of daily prayer at home). I have only read one, maybe two of his other books so I am not a Scott Hahn "groupie" but I was very impressed that his writing is personal but also very clear and compelling.
great explanation from an Opus Dei member  Jan 9, 2007
Scott Hahn has written this book with the same eloquence and style that he shows in person on EWTN. His journey from a protestant minister to an Opus Dei member is fasinating.
Opus Dei Literature  Jan 9, 2007
I have been a Cooperator of Opus Dei for roughly two years now and have read, or at least, tried to read, many books on the spirit of Opus Dei. None of them come close to Scott Hahn's book. If you are looking for a great, short spiritual read, this is it.
