Item Description...
With more people than ever interested in knitting, there have been many volumes to teach newcomers the basics and reeducate the lapsed. But none has targeted the mature audience...until now. Designed with larger type for easy readability, with a stay-open hidden spiral for ease of use, and with 30 projects designed by over-50-year-olds for their peers, Never Too Old to Knit will reach this eager, untapped market. It includes a discussion---with medical statements from experts---of knitting's many health and stress-relief benefits; the therapeutic advantages range from increased mental and creative stimulation to an improved social life as knitters gather together to work and chat. Clearly illustrated instructions present all the basics, from casting on to completing simple garments, so both novice and returning knitters can start stitching immediately. And because more-advanced techniques are covered too, the book becomes a valuable reference as skills improve. The appealing---and portable---projects all feature beautiful colors and textures, yet none are very difficult to complete.
A Selection of the Crafters Choice Book Club.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
Lighten Up Ladies  Jul 9, 2008
I have just returned to knitting after entirely too long and unlike the reviews I have read here (most of which made me a bit ill...)I loved this book! So you don't like Lion Brand yarn? Well, since you are all so bloody clever, why don't you just substitute something you consider worthy of your lofty taste(s) and let the rest of us feel grateful for a group of excellent patterns and good-natured, well researched information. I returned to knitting for the simple joy of the process, not to make myself feel better, smarter or above anyone else. This book warmly welcomed me back and gave me some excellent material to remind me of how much I simply love to knit! If those of you who hated the book so much and thought it was so inappropriately named simply stopped to read the title, you might not have been so highly insulted by a genuine effort welcome and embrace those of us who are older, calmer and considerably less eager to judge and criticize. You just don't get, and boy, am I glad I don't knit with you tightly wound kvetches.
I like the patterns but...  Jun 21, 2007
This book is aimed at the new or occasional hand-knitter. I consider myself both so I really liked the basic instructions in the front of the book. The classic patterns are just what I was looking for and I'm pleased with them. However. The editor may rest assured that at the ripe old age of 51, this baby boomer isn't suffering from isolation (I wish) or severe memory loss. She needs to check the age range of baby boomers in relation to her comments on aging. Those condescending comments are more suited to a 90 year-old, not a baby boomer. And even at that age, quite insulting.
New hobby  Jan 15, 2007
This book is good for anyone interested in learning or re-learning to knit. Interesting information, easy to follow instructions and good ideas for do-able and useful projects.
Worthless  Dec 20, 2006
A better title would be, "I'm Too Young to Write a Book, But the Pay is Good." Condescending rubbish. Don't bother. Of course I'm a dottering old fool. 55 and my knees ache. Oy, you shouldn't know. Now, where's my shawl. I know I left it around here somewhere...
Knitting for the ELDERLY baby boomers  Dec 1, 2006
What rot. The whole tone of the book is condescending, and I feel that this was someone at Lion Brand's idea of a good gimmick theme for yet another knitting book. Of course, since this review isn't IN LARGE TYPE all the baby boomers who look at this page might not be able to read this... and I suppose I should SPEAK UP A BIT.
