Reviews - What do our customers think?
Fun Reading  Apr 10, 2008
Molly is very likeable. We read her late in the series and found it not as interesting as some others in the sets, but were not let to skip a night while into it.
Can't go wrong  Apr 4, 2008
I don't think you can wrong with the American Girl books. The stories are wonderful. If you can't afford the hard cover these are just as wonderful. Keep them in the box and the books will stay nice and neat for many hours of reading.

We especially love the Molly books because it is close enough in history that our daughters can relate (this happened when grandma was a girl).
Good books  Sep 28, 2007
I bought this set of books for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loved them. We read them together. I usually read for us but my daughter read some to me. She really could relate to Molly. Some parts I thought we silly but I am over 30 now. I like how it gets my daughter and myself into history and learning new things. Molly lived during World War 2 and her father, a doctor, was over in England. The family has their problems and miss their dad but keep doing their part at home. Molly is my daughter's new favorite. We have read many of the other American Girl books and will continue!
Happy Birthday, Molly! (Book 4)  Jul 18, 2006
I think this book is awesome! During war time, if you had a birthday like Molly did, you could still get a cake and special birthday presents at a party. Molly even got a puppy! During WWII, some English girls had to move out of their homes and away from their parents because England was too dangerous for them. Germany was bombing London. Emily was such a girl, and she thought about things very differently than Molly. Molly learned that it was hard to leave your family and go to a stranger's house. She also learned that war is not a game. It is very real for those who have to suffer through it. For Emily, nothing about the war was exciting, including blackout drills. You could compare Emily's life to the lives of children in Israel and Lebanon, where there is fighting now. It makes me feel very sad for the kids who are living there.
Molly's Surprise (Book 3)  Jul 18, 2006
I think this book was great! I learned that just because your father is out fighting in the war, it doesn't mean that Christmas or any type of holiday has to be ruined. You can still have fun, no matter what. Molly's family still put up their Christmas tree and lights to celebrate. Also, if a box comes in the mail and it says "Keep it hidden until Christmas", keep it hidden and don't ruin the surprise. Molly and her sister and brothers enjoyed sledding in the snow in 1944 like I do now. Then they came back in to enjoy hot cocoa and a warm breakfast, just like I do. Even though it was war time, Molly still got what she wished for.
