Item Description...
Each generation has to decide if Christ is superior to Nietzsche, if God is smarter than Plato, and if purpose and design are superior to chance. Two basic sources of reasoning determine the thoughts, ideas, beliefs, values, aims, morals, lifestyles, and activities of mankind - the wisdom of man and the wisdom of God. According to Tim LaHaye and David Noebel, life is mainly about the battle for your mind: whether you will live by man's wisdom, from the likes of Marx, Darwin, Freud, and Nietzsche, or God's wisdom and those who shared it, such as Moses, the prophets, Christ, and the apostles. Your choice will affect the way you live now and ultimately where you will spend eternity.

A Wake Up Call to the Church.....  Jun 4, 2007
I have read this book a second time, in fact, its been about 5 yrs since I read it the first time.

I believe that this book should be a HUGE wake up call to the church of today.
Christians need to start getting active in civic affairs,, and not just tuck their Christianity under the pew when they leave their church on Sundays~leaving it to the so called "politicians"~
Take a good look around you ,,,,,, Are things getting any better?? Or we have sunk lower as a society?

Upon reading the book a second time, I can see how the pendulum has swung further,,,,,, and wedged deeper into secular humanism than 5 years ago when I read this book the first time~

I saw the difference SO greatly in five short years, that it sent shivers right up my spine!

I was so taken aback by this ,, I ordered 4 ( used was all I could get) copies of this book, for each of my 3 sons , who happen to be starting their families at this time ~

I can't think of a better way to hand down a godly inheritance,,,, than to continue to seek truth and wisdom,,~ and to train their children to seek the same also.

Children need to be taught right from wrong, good from evil ..and to grow to be discerning adults as time progresses~

Grandparents/family/friends can do their part by reinforcing solid family values and a godly heritage,,,,,,, AND,,, be *examples themselves* of loving , godly people that they will respect and love, first and foremost.

The latest and greatest video game isn't going to contribute one bit to their character,,,, but giving your time,,, talking, reading and teaching ( and praying!) with them them, will.

It appears that we live in a world where good and bad are simply subjective,,,there is NO right and wrong anymore.

That is simply NOT acceptable,,,,there IS a right and there IS a wrong!

And we need to teach it.

~Scripture addresses all of this ~

This book is excellent reading material and extremely eye opening~

No one is guaranteed tomorrow, so this was a good time to do some real soul searching into my own priorities. How much had I let this go in my own life, I wondered.
At that point, one television( comedy) show confirmed just how low we had sunk as a society,,, and I turned the TV off~...and sat there in shock,,, WHEN,, I wondered did it really get this bad??

I felt so strongly about this book, that I believe it was worth sharing and,, then letting them ,,in turn ,,,share the book also~ I purchased these books for Fathers Day, and I cannot think of a better gift to give to Christian parents.

The authors are able to articulate the events of today's world and are able to put into words just what you are thinking~ but cannot quite put into words yourself.

I wanted my son's/and families to know just exactly what they were up against in today's day and age, and to really evaluate the difference in schools and other choices available~

Private schools are a very good option for many,( in fact, my sons attended them ), and I was very pleased with the high level of education they received.

I understand that many may not have that option available,,all the more reason to keep up with what is being taught as " truth" in the public ( government) schools today.
Get to KNOW your schoolboard and how it votes!
Perhaps grandparents may have more expendable income can invest in their grandchildren's education~

Understanding this movement is important to the Christian and will become increasingly more and more important.

What I noticed to be different at this reading was the incredible speed in which the humanistic thinking is permeating all levels of school, communities,,,,,, and yes, even the church!!!
This is directed to churches that will * not* preach truth in an effort to be " seeker sensitive" only.

We are not without voices,,~we CAN do something if ONLY WE WILL!
and that means taking an active part in elections and keeping in touch with your elected officials.

We can VOTE accordingly! LOOK up the issues,,,,READ up on your candidates,,,,,,,DO YOUR research!

YES(!!).., it means making phone calls and writing letters ,,,,,and that takes EFFORT on the part of the Christian!
Is ANYTHING of real value ever easy??

Its time for us not to be ashamed of who we are, and show it,, and to ACT upon it~
We are to be light in this present day ,,, and not allow ourselves to be drawn into the existing darkness.

*If we continue to remain silent, we shall have no one to blame but ourselves ,for not getting INVOLVED in the process that God has blessed us to part of*
(By getting involved,,,isnt that being a good steward of what God has blessed you with??)

There are many Christians that suffer persecution in other countries and I think we need to remember this when we take voting or political issues so lightly.

We are commanded to speak with love and in peace , we still ( at this writing) have the freedom to speak our minds on issues ~ as much as ANY of the secular humanists do~ (though the ACLU would love to silence us once and for all,,,,, and make no mistake,,,, that is one of their goals,,,)
NO more prayer in "public" place, no 10 commandments ~( I ask HOW can,,, " Thou shalt not steal",,, POSSIBLY hurt society??)~

God never intended us to sit back and allow ourselves to become comfortably silent~
This book has encouraged me to become more active in the political arena even though it would have been the LAST thing I would have thought of~
I want to make a difference and there IS a way to do so!

I hope to keep others more informed of judges, rulings,,, bills up for debate,,,and goings on both local and nationally~

If you are a Christian that loves your family, and your country,
read this book...
All I have to do is look at the pictures of those wee ones that I love so dearly,,, and I KNOW why its important,,,,,
"Fighting the fine fight of the faith", at least in LaHaye's view  Dec 2, 2006
LaHaye is a fundamentalist, and his beliefs seep through every page of this nonfiction book. He does make valid points about secular humanism (I was surprised to learn that it holds the same tax exempt status as do mainline Christian churches) and moral relativism in American culture. However, his valid points drown in a sea of seemingly mindless Christian rhetoric.

Mr. LaHaye, take note of how Jesus Christ preached to the masses. He did not make cheap emotional appeals or call for his followers to take political action. He used simple logic and reasoning when teaching his followers. You could do the same.
the first UNBIASED review  Jun 27, 2006
these reviews are funny. Looks like no middle ground, just a bunch of people wanting to prove they are right on either side with "yes, humanists are destroying our planet" and "no, LaHaye is a religious lunatic." I just finished the book. Yes, LaHay takes the issue to the extreme. He admits that the secular humanists are a very small part of society, but then says that they control everything. I think the enormous amount of research that went into this book gives it some validity, but not absolute authority. I think many valid concerns are addressed while many are also greatly exaggerated. I think the book is a great starting point on the issue, read it and take what you want from it. Every book of this nature is biased, thats kind of the point of trying to justify and confirm one side. Read the book and make your own decisions, there is always something to be learned, despite what the far right and the far left are littering the reviews with. If you are interested in the subject of Christianity and Secular Humanism, certainly pick this one up, and perhaps seek out other books from other sides of the discussion.
What founding fathers are you referring to?  Feb 5, 2006
The colonists? Or the non-christian Native Americans whose lands were stolen by Jesus worshippers who then founded this "great" nation?
Excellent book  Jan 15, 2006
It seems that the people who gave this book a negative review are anti-Christian or Humanist (many admittedly) and therefore have an existing world-view that distorts their thinking on this topic.

The issues raised by LaHaye are thought-provoking and should be a concern to every citizen.
