Overview Women are like spaghetti, because their thought process runs on and on in an interconnecting web, and men are like waffles because they compartmentalize and "sit" in "sometimes blank boxes, just to relax".
Publishers Description Breakfast food or dinner dish? You and your spouse are delightfully different."" "Men process like waffles." They think and act by moving from box to box. They enter a box, size up the single problem, and formulate a solution."Women process life like a plate of spaghetti." Each issue is like an individual noodle that touches every other noodle on the plate. They find it natural to multitask. In this innovative and fun approach to the differences between men and women, relationship experts Bill and Pam Farrel provide humorous stories, easy-to-understand examples, and clear directions to help you achieve harmony in your marriage. From raising children to divvying up household chores, Bill and Pam reveal practical ways you and your mate can be supportive of each other and create a dynamic marriage.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | On target, easy to apply. Oct 3, 2008 |
I have used this book to teach several marriage relationship classes and have always received great response to the material. The Farrels take the "Mars and Venus" idea and make it much more applicable to everyday life for real couples. Whether you're in a new marriage, a long established marriage, or just contemplating getting married, this book will help you understand your and your mate's motivations and reactions. Highly recommended based on much usage. | | | | You get what the title promises! Aug 11, 2008 |
| Cute book with good metaphors. Easy read and good lessons for understanding how the "other side" thinks. | | | | Very true May 28, 2008 |
| This is a great book. Stereotypical men v. stereotypical women. Being one of the afore mentioned men. Right on. Hilarious and accurate. Highly recommended. | | | | EXTREMELY Simplistic Apr 25, 2008 |
I read "Red Hot Monogamy" by this couple, and I found some of the same things to be true in this book, but they took it to a whole new level of "cheesy" with this one. Unfortunately, they use more email forward stories (actual things I've received in email forwards) than original material. I was extremely disappointed to find that - especially after their glowing review by Dr. James Dobson. I actually think the concepts are valid, and even somewhat helpful in understanding relationships. However, all the "meat" of what they've written was clouded by the silly, stereotypical junk they pulled together to try and make it funny. I would like to see them focus on being more original and not try so hard to make everything sound like something I could get for free in an email forward.
The beginning of the book was one of the hardest parts to get through. Here is an actual question from a 27 question quiz given on page 25:
"To prove your love for your wife, you would gladly: A. Climb the highest mountain. B. Swim the deepest ocean. C. Hold her purse while she tries things on at the mall and run the risk that, at any moment, one of the guys might walk by."
It's this kind of "filler" that the book could have done without. Unfortunately, I fear it would have been a very short book without it.
Honestly, I believe their hearts are in the right place, but now I believe they can use that enthusiasm, knowledge and God-given talent to put together something more intellectual and less excruciating to read.

| This book doesn't tell you anything new about men & women, but it does give a good reminder with humor. We read it in a ladies' group, but it could be read as a couple. Most of our husbands were reading it over our shoulders anyway. At the end of each chapter there are "questions" or comments that are meant for humor!!! I think a lot of people didn't get this. Look at the end of the book for the more serious & in depth questions. This is a quick read and worth the money. Sure it's a lightweight, but it's still gets couples talking and thinking about each other which is the real intent. | | | Write your own review about Men Are Like Waffles Women Are Like Spaghetti: Understanding and Delighting in Your Differences
