Reviews - What do our customers think?
Told in a comedic sort of way.  Aug 30, 2009
An outline of a body is found in a cistern of old in Patricia Amble's newly-acquired Victorian fixer-upper. Two male neighbors are vying for Tish's affections. Will she fall for good-looking British David or policeman Brad? David offers to share a grocery cart with her and hands out her pencils during Halloween while Brad offers his coat when she is chilled, shares his garden tomatoes with her, and checks to make sure her house is safe. Someone's wife disappeared. Someone else died.

Not much of a mystery/suspense story but good just the same.
Downhill From the Beginning  May 14, 2009
The story started strong in the beginning with good suspense and a quirky, fun main character but it all went downhill from there. It was absurd at times. Some things I don't get:

1) The book summary leads you to believe this could be a paranormal story, however, there are no voices, apparitions or anything that led me to believe the house was haunted.

2) Throughout the story, all we hear is how she's convinced there's a body down in the cistern yet she doesn't go down to invesigate herself until the very end of the book.

3) It is absurd to me that she'd be immediately arrested and thrown in jail upon the discovery of Martin's body in the basement without evidence. And when she's released two days later, she returns to the house as if nothing happened. Wouldn't they still be investigating the scene? Would they allow her back so quickly? I doubt it.

4) She wants to join the Historical Committee in town immediately upon Martin's death? She goes around asking for votes and campaigning? Why? Only so she can get rid of her cistern? This is ridiculous to me.

5) She's at a restaurant with one neighbor, Brad, one night and begins fascinating that she's married to him. The very next day her other neighbor, David, proposes and she accepts and goes to tell him her decision. Huh??

6) Even after discovering that David could be deported, she is still considering marrying him even though she suspects he proposed only to stay in the states. Huh??!
Just plain good reading!  Mar 11, 2009
I was very pleasantly surprised at this author's first novel. Call me a risk-taker but I actually bought all three in the series without having read any of them and I am not sorry I did. They caught my interest from the very beginning and I really enjoyed the story line through to the end. I am recommending them to friends.
Renovation, Restoration, and Release  Mar 22, 2008
Award winning Nicole Young combines romance, intrigue, and mystery, allowing her heroine to reflect on her past and to question where her life is going as she faces emotional challenges bordering on mental instability, tests of physical endurance, and fear for her own life. Threaded throughout Tish's first person account is a realization that she is on a spiritual journey as she seeks to forgive herself for a difficult, devastating mistake in her past.

The story centers on a Victorian house in a Detroit suburb that has come under the jurisdiction of the town's Historical Society. Tish Ambler buys, renovates, and resells these derelict houses to increase neighborhood values and to preserve a community's heritage.

Young's characters are believable, strong, and well developed. They range from tender to despicable, unpredictable, lovable, and derisive. A gifted story teller and communicator Nicole combines the elements of conflict and resolution throughout the narrative pulling the reader, (my self included) into the suspense and intrigue of working with Tish in solving a murder, a murder for which she has being arrested for as the prime suspect. There were a number of characters, who, under Tish's scrutiny kept me engaged and guessing right up to the climatic surprise ending.

"Love Me If You Must" is the first in a series of Patricia Amble mysteries. I am eager to read the sequel "Kill Me if You Can."

An Outstanding Debut!  Dec 5, 2007
Patricia Amble or Tish for short likes to renovate old houses and has just moved into an old Victorian in Rawlings. But she also has a past that she wants no one to know about. So renovating old houses makes it possible to keep running. Two doors down is David Ramsey the commuter geek with the British accent and good looks that makes Trish's heart swoon. Next door is police officer Brad Walters who is masculine and good looking too but being a police officer is the last person Trish wants around because Brad can find out her past with just the click of a mouse. Both David and Brad are vying for Trish's attention but she's afraid to get close to anyone and doesn't plan to stay in Rawlings once the house is completed and sold.

But Rawlings is a strange little town with lots of secrets of its own. David's wife has left town. Trish resembles Martin Dietz's missing ex-fiancée Sandra Jones. Martin Dietz a man with an ax to grind against his ex-fiancée is the one man standing between her and the demolition of a cistern in her basement. The neighborhood watch of Dorothy Fitch across the street, the death of a teenager from arsenic poisoning. And the ghosts that never seem to stop haunting her. She's been told her house is haunted and believes there is a body buried in the basement but it seems Brad the police officer doesn't believe her.

Than Martin Dietz is found dead in her basement and she is arrested for murder. She wasn't home at the time since she was out with David but Dorothy's word is believed over her own as she says she saw her go into the house with Dietz. And there's Dorothy's son Jack just how much does he really know?

So it seems everyone is out to get her but why? Who really murdered Martin Dietz and who is buried in her basement? Is it Jan the wife of the former owner of the house or the missing Rebecca, David's wife or someone else? Tish is regretting more and more buying the old Victorian and moving to Rawlings especially with all that is going on the house will be hard to sell and with Dietz's body found in her basement how will she stay out of prison?

What a totally awesome book!!!!! Author Nicole Young has definitely found her calling as her debut novel is exceptional. With all the twists and turns this page turner will have you spell bound from the first page till the end. The romance and suspense will have you on the edge of your seat! Don't pass this one by as this is definitely a must read with a wow factor of five out of five and to think this is only the beginning of the Patricia Amble Mystery series!!!!
