Clean Fun Read  May 7, 2008
This book is a fun quick read. The story details a young heroine's adventure to fulfill her destiny. You'll quickly be pulled into Robin's character and vividly see her life, love, and insecurities. After I read this book, I passed it on to my 12 year old daughter who would like more than anything to live a songwriter's life. She loved it too.

Fun, fast read  Jun 25, 2007
Lost in Nash Vegas is the sweet story of Robin Rae, a small town country girl who has dreams of becoming a songwriter. The only problem is that she has big performance anxiety issues. Her performances are endearing- you can feel the turmoil of emotion she is going through. I know that I would have a big problem singing in front of an audience period, but singing a song that you wrote, ups the intensity even more.

I'm not a big fan of country music, so some of the references to songs and singers were lost on me but overall Robin's story should have mass appeal. Many people dream of a life in the spotlight- so it's a fun journey to go on with Robin, to feel like you're going through all she is. In that way, she is a very relatable heroine. The story always comes out better when you actually care what happens to the heroine- and here, you get caught up in her journey, her emotions, wanting her to succeed.

Overall, a light, fun, quick read that is easy to breeze right through. I'm interested to read Diva NashVegas to see if it's just as enjoyable. Here's hoping Rachel Hauck writes another winner. I could always use another author to watch for!

Country music and good book lovers unite!  Apr 20, 2007
Robin's dream of being a country singer/songwriter has one huge snag-- she's terrified of singing in front of people. The fear of staying trapped in small-town life is equally terrifying. Against her mama's wishes, she embarks on a journey to reach her dreams and find herself in the process.

Whether you're thirteen or thirty-three, you're going to see some of yourself in spunky yet shy Robin Rae McAfee. Country music might not be your thing, but there's still plenty for you in this story. This book is a bit mystery, a bit chick lit, a bit inspiration, but a whole lot of GREAT READ.

An A+ FUN read!  Apr 12, 2007
Rachel Hauck catches your attention in the opening scenes of the Lost in NashVegas--an inspirational chick lit type story-and doesn't let go until the (not-so-fat) lady sings.

Robin Rae McAfee has a big dream--to write songs and sell her music. There's just one little thing standing in her way: she has a huge case of stage fright.

Working at the local grocery store and living in a trailer in the same town as her mom and pop, isn't exactly what Robin wants out of life. She feels like she is going nowhere, fast. After an impromptu proposal from her boyfriend, Ricky, and a visit from her sister, Robin decides to move to Nashville and pursue her music-writing career. Her mom is totally against the idea, but she decides to go anyway.

Robin's journey toward selling her music is packed with whacky friends, a strong work ethic, and a little bit of luck. She meets a handsome carpenter, Lee Rivers, on her first day in Nashville, and instant attraction is born.

The outrageous stage fright shown by Robin does seem a little overblown at times, but creates some hilarious scenes. It is consistent with her character throughout the novel and definitely doesn't detract from the story.

Support from her friends and family carries Robin through some tough times, including finding out that her dad isn't her biological father, and her mom has more history in Nashville than she could have imagined. Robin is finally able to overcome her stage fright with some good advice and a lot of practice. Oh, and she gets the guy, but I won't say which one.

Rachel Hauck uses creative language, in both internal and external dialogue that really makes you feel that you are in the Deep South. Her first-person, present tense keeps the pace of the novel rocking and rolling, without distracting from the prose. Rich word-pictures are used throughout the novel to describe the city of Nashville, almost making the setting another character in the book.

Armchair Interview says: A highly recommended, fun-filled read with lots of originality.

Lovin' Every Minute of It  Apr 7, 2007
I absolutely loved this book. The main character in this book, Robin, has a dream and she seeks out to achieve her goal in that dream. Is she scared? Sure, who wouldn't be, yet she forges right on through. She inspired me to do the same for myself. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good book. I couldn't put it down until I finished. I loved every minute of the reading.
