Excellent Live Album--Great showcase of the artist  Dec 13, 2006
A lot of times an artist will perform with a full band, with screeching guitars, banging drums, etc. Not so with this performance.

Nichole Nordeman accompanies herself on the piano. But she also has a back-up band that adequately adds fullness of sound, without taking the spotlight off the singer.

Nordeman is great at both piano and singing. Standouts include "Holy", "Is It Any Wonder", the cover of Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time", and "Legacy".

This album is soothing, and also encouraging.
Disappointing  Nov 20, 2005
Having loved many of her other songs, I looked forward to this live album. However, this wasn't like many other live albums where you get improved, or at least livlier versions of the songs you love. This album seems to me to be like a studio album done in front of a crowd. The only notice you get of the audience is the applause at the end of the songs. The song Holy was a serious diappointment because it lacked any energy. Don't get me wrong. Nichole is still a great artist, and a fine performer. I just don't like this rendition of songs done live.
A little short but what's there is good  Sep 7, 2005
Of course I knew this before I bought it but this CD only has eight tracks. I felt that's a little "short" on songs for a CD. What was there though was really good. The quality of the live recording is excellent. Nichole's cover of Cindy Laupher's "Time After Time" is awesome.
An Excellent Reflection of What She's Like Live  Aug 23, 2005
I had the chance to see Nichole perform live at the recent Women of Faith conference in Denver and she was wonderful. This recording captures the essence of what she's like live in concert. She has an amazing way of weaving beautiful word pictures, poetry, in her lyrics.. And her voice is young and powerful and strong and full of emotion and it's very soothing. An excellent addition to anyone's christian music collection..
A great CD to have playing while having friends over etc.  Jun 18, 2005
When I first slipped Nichole Nordeman's Live At The Door into my CD player, I wasn't instantly excited. Nichole Nordeman's music is always great, but I didn't find this to attract my attention.

However, I soon found the worshipful and quiet disc to be great for my quite times with God. While penning something in my God-Journal, I can easily sing along to "Holy" or say my prayer of "To Know You"

The albums begins with "To Know You". It sounds quite similar to the studio version, but not so eerie. The studio version of "Holy" (On Woven & Spun) is a praise-like anthem, but on Live At The Door it is more worshipful-easily a highlight. Another great song comes next-the jazz-inspired "Is It Any Wonder". I love the original (Featured on her 1998 debut Wide Eyed) but the difference in their live version is that it has more "carnival noises"- very cool-but sometimes the vocals aren't as good as the original. The studio version of "I am" is my favorite song in the whole world, but I definitly wouldn't have made a live version-it isn't as good as the original. Instead, I might have done "To say Thanks" or "River God" instead.

Nichole Nordeman's albums all-except for her debut-have featured a remake. Here, Nichole Nordeman covers Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time". It's a good cover and it was a good idea to feature a cover on here. I think I like the live version of "Legacy" better than the original probably becuase I have heard the original a bit too much. "Fool for You" is better than the stduo version too-they have added some extra noises which changes it nicely. The album finishs very quickly with the nice-but proabbly not so good as the studio version-"My Offering".

The only noise from the audience is clapping at the beggining ad end of the songs and "Hallelujah"s at the end of "My Offering"-it sounds a bit too "choregraphed" though. I'm a little disspaoitned Nichole doesn't say anything-it would be nice to have seprate tracks before the songs having her explain what inspired her to write them etc. The audience should probably be singing along too.

Live At The Door is a short, but nice, offering from a talented artist. I only recommend it to fans though-others should just buy her other CDs.
