Reviews - What do our customers think?
it is a Christianity book  Nov 9, 2009
not a bad book, definitely not what I expected. It is a religious book, about Christianity. not much story, but gospel.

Painful.....  Jul 14, 2009
As one interested in prison ministry, I went into this book with great optimism. It is written by a man who was sent to San Quentin, found the Lord, and "made good" with his life.

Despite all the hype for this book, it is absolutely painful to read. Every chapter is virtually the same theme: 1)he was a successful real estate developer 2)he pulled some shady deals (which he never really admits he knew they were shady, 3)he was wrongly sent to San Quetin (he "should have been in a fire camp), 4) he was depressed, 5)he started hanging with "lifers" who taught him everything he needed to know in life. Every single chapter follows this outline. The only reason I finished this book is that I kept thinking it would get good.

The author is definatley a "lifer-groupie." I suggest Dallas re-title this book to "Everything I Needed to Know I learned from Lifers."

I can't believe this book has received such postive reader reviews. I don't think I have ever been so in the minority. I suspect many of the "reviewers" are friends of the publisher or author and have written reviews to help market the book.

Save your money on this book and take a nap instead.

Inspirational  Jul 9, 2009
For me, the author's Foreword alone is one of the most inspirational and well written pieces I have ever read. It's worth the price of the book by itself. Fortunately, there's a lot more.

If you're somehow offended by thinking about God, then you'll want to avoid it. Otherwise, give it a chance and see what happens!

A Look On The Inside  Jun 6, 2009
The lessons learned by Dallas are instrumental for every walk of our lives. His lessons were in an environment few would want to be, yet Dallas through his transparent words, took me behind the bars where I saw a former prideful man broken to the core. A place where only a few then look up to see where their pride got them and choose to continue on in their own power or begin to see there is Someone who loves them and desires a better life for them. Thank you Bill! This is good for all of us!

A GREAT READ FOR ALL THOSE IN THE PRISON MINISTRY OR HAVE OR ARE IN PRISON.  Apr 22, 2009
Wow, what an amazing book. I was quickly drawn into Bill's story of transformation from a selfish, godless human, to one devoted to his faith and living for God. This is a must read for all that are in the prison ministry, know of someone in the prison ministry, or are or have been in prison. I only wish it were currently available in paperback so I could order several copies for the inmates that I write to.

What a wonderful message of how God can transform our lives if only we allow Him to. Everything in this book is what I believe in, yet Bill has brought it to life in the pages in a way that will penetrate your soul, and having you saying, "yes, only God".

I hope that after reading this book and others like it, you will gain some insight to those that find their way into the prison system. That they too are people loved by God and created for a purpose, and deserve respect. There's not one of us who hasn't sinned or made mistakes.

If this story has tugged at your heart and made you think about those locked behind bars in a new way, check out the prison ministries available through your local church. I'm the coordinator for the adult prison pen pal program though my church. We go through, Christian Pen Pal. Check out their website at, christian-penpals.com. Their a great organization that matched up inmates with Christian volunteers. It's a wonderful ministry, one that will bless you beyond the blessing you will bring to others.
